SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by skybluemark on Nov 21, 2014 8:31:09 GMT 1, any idea on import duty, vat etc? 5% as long as you tell JP to mark it up with the correct commodity code on the forms plus admin fee probably of £10 (TARIFF HS 9701) JP - can you confirm you'll make import duty as pain free as possible pls?!!

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by alittle on Nov 21, 2014 8:47:39 GMT 1, I would say the closest code would be 9702, however, I do not believe this code applies to giclees, as they are not produced by hand.

Used 9701 on everything and always come through ok, it is the same as dolk uses as well. pretty safe bet that one, saying that they were always screen prints or originals.

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by Hubble Bubble on Nov 21, 2014 9:26:00 GMT 1, I would say the closest code would be 9702, however, I do not believe this code applies to giclees, as they are not produced by hand. This is correct on both counts in my experience.
Also in my experience… it tends to be something of a lottery and full duty is often charged, requiring the purchaser to claim back the 15% difference from companies such as parcelforce. I have come to the conclusion that this is such a faff as to be not worthwhile once you factor in the time it takes to make the claim, provide documentation etc.
So… an $850 Canadian purchase equates to £479. Duty on this at 20% would be £95.80. Claimable VAT would be £71.85. It'll take an hour to download the form, complete, make copies of documentation, send form (got to be registered to be sure it gets there), wait for inevitable reply telling you it's gone to the wrong department, receive reply saying they need some kind of oblique code you don't have, find code, supply code via another letter, wait awhile, possibly get just over £70 back. It's frankly less stressful not to bother. That said, sometimes it works like a dream and you get the dosh so… if you're that way inclined… fill your boots.

Im pretty sure coa ship DHL and they are very good at recognising codes on customs forms as their staff are actually trained and have more than 2 braincells.
also parcelforce make you claim it back after, where as dhl sort it before you pay if any queries.
