I'm sorry but your the one calling people stupid, everyone else seems to be speaking to you quite politely. To say that someone was whining because they decided to wait to see what happened, is it a bit of a joke when you consider the amount of people crying over maybe not getting a tshirt that is a collab with banksy, when really the whole point was to raise some money for a really good charity.

BNE ๐บ๐ธ BNE Was Here โข Stickers โข Street Art, by born2sk8 on Mar 24, 2014 23:35:35 GMT 1, Ok that's fair enough. I'm just personally of the opinion that if using banksy's name was just a stunt to raise awareness of this charity then it's obviously worked well. I had no idea about it before and now that I do, I will certainly be making more donations to them.
It just kind of annoys me that so many have their pitch forks out over the whole thing when the money has gone to the charity. If people are such fans of banksy surely they see that he's not exactly one to do things by the book, he's a graffiti artist after all!
I have ordered and if I get a blank tee so be it, I'll still be glad that I'm aware of this charity now and to be honest kinda impressed that an artist was willing to put his credibility on the line to help the cause. I take it a lot of people don't like the idea of f*cking over people that have money to waste to give to people who really need it? I do

BNE ๐บ๐ธ BNE Was Here โข Stickers โข Street Art, by behaviorist on Mar 24, 2014 23:38:58 GMT 1, I'm cross-posting from the original BNE + Banksy thread because my point below seems relevant to this discussion:
I've been following this whole thing from start to..well, it's not finished yet, but it certainly seems to be reaching some kind of closure. Slowly.
The donation of 35k is wonderful and I hope it stands. The problem I'm wrestling with, beyond everything already pointed out by others regarding BNE's evasive manner, calling others out for their selfishness, the poorly-thought out social experiment comment (a true social experiment would never be called out as such, in its midst, by the experimenter) etc etc...and I know this has already been brought up, is this, and I believe it's key:
We do not know how many shirts were sold, but I would easily guess it's in the thousands. Given all the obscuring of the truth thus far, there's no reason to think only 500 shirts were sold. And they are still being sold. My very casual count of folks who have bought (just look at instagram), is that hundreds and hundreds of people bought tees, many buying far more than one. With that in mind, a 35k donation is but a fraction of what BNE made. That feels really, really important to me. Without a real sense of where the money went, it's very hard to feel like my purchase (yes, I bought) really went to the charity, as promised.

I totally hear what your saying and this is true as we don't know the real numbers but I suppose because I have faith that the invader tee I ordered is real and that the other collaborations were real. I just can't understand that all this would just be a desperate attempt for bne to make some money on the side for himself.

Without a real sense of where the money went, it's very hard to feel like my purchase (yes, I bought) really went to the charity, as promised. An excellent point worth reiterating, especially given that BNE is a for-profit company.
I'm very surprised it wasn't raised in the animalnewyork.com follow-up article today. The issue certainly merits discussion โ and it's one BNE has thus far continued to dodge.
The release of BNE's "collaboration with Banksy" was covered by numerous blogs including Complex, Juxtapoz, Hypebeast, SlamXHype, Arrested Motion and Street Art News. It was discussed at length on message boards like this one and Expresso Beans, and no doubt heavily publicised via social media, be it Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or whatnot.
500 or 1,000 t-shirts could easily have sold within the first minute, let alone the 60 to 90 minutes the 'Buy Now' button remained up on BNE's website on Saturday. This was marketed as a Banksy item after all. Those attempting to argue "It was only a t-shirt, not a print" are in my opinion being disingenuous or naive about Banksy's appeal.
My guess is we're talking about multiple thousands of t-shirts having been sold at $80 apiece, plus shipping.
Hopefully, BNE will opt for transparency on this point in the next day or so.
