WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by Poster Bob on Aug 14, 2014 22:00:34 GMT 1, Banksy has yet to pass time-related relevancy tests. Being a big name now does not mean anyone will care about you in ten years. Will he fade into obscurity? Most likely not.
I love when people talk about the future of the Banksy market like the last six years didn't happen. That's my favorite.

1. Banksy was a big name in 2004. Banksy is still a big name in 2014, who people care about significantly more. 2. Banksy has not faded into obscurity. 3. Banksy has passed the time-related relevancy test.

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by Poster Bob on Aug 14, 2014 22:35:43 GMT 1, ok chief.
1. I did not say that he has not been big for 10 years. I said "Being a big name now does not mean anyone will care about you in ten years." Now is 2014, 10 years from now is 2024.
2. I said he probably will not, so I can't understand what you're trying to state.
3. By stating "the time-related relevancy test" you mean that there is only one. Which one is it?
ok chief.

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by Deleted on Aug 14, 2014 22:37:19 GMT 1, Based on my understanding of language, your first post heavily implied that the 'time-related relevancy test' was that you were still relevant ten years from any given point at which you are considered a big name. If that was an incorrect implication, then I am mistaken.

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by andyroo0312 on Aug 15, 2014 6:16:18 GMT 1, Sometimes what we post does not read how we intended after all not all of us have the gift of Hemmingway As far as Banksys longevity is concerned I think his popularity is just really starting on a world scale sure we have known of him for sometime but it now seems there is interest from other parts of the world and that is a fairly new thing. I can not think of any relevant urban/street artist that is as well known by such a wide demograph in most corners of the world as B, but then again I could be completely wrong cos that does happen from time to time.

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by daveart on Aug 15, 2014 13:45:44 GMT 1, completely agree with andyroo - how this translates to future price increases is really going to be interesting to watch .. with some signed bansky prints creeping up on the low end Warhol prints that is a pretty good sign of the times. i remember 5+ years ago when people (probably me included) would say things like... it's not like he is the next warhol... but even Warhol has more and less desireable images. and Banksy just has such a small amount of product in the market.. hard to say..

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by Deleted on Aug 15, 2014 20:01:24 GMT 1, There is no one even calling 'hype' on Banksy anymore. That phase has completely passed. Everyone loves him, and he ain't goin' nowhere (unless for natural/accidental reasons).
I don't see what he could ever do at this point to ruin the legacy he has already created.

WTB: Banksy Stop & Search , by heathunter881 on Aug 18, 2014 16:58:13 GMT 1, Personally I think rich people are feeding the Banksy hype more than anything, and the noobs just keeps following b/c the media is covering the "buzz". Don't get me wrong I still think Banksy produces great work that resonates with many people, but I'm not buying that a signed NOLA at 35k is a bargain.

I don't think anyone thinks that's a bargain...? I thought 25k was the top-out price.
