Banksy 'Keep it real' canvas, Kate print and more at Bonhams, by Deleted on Feb 25, 2014 10:08:32 GMT 1, I dont get bonhams. How can they estimate Happy Choppers at 4-6k and Queen Vic at 8-12k? Queen Vic is rarer but less popular, certainly not worth twice as much and wouldnt be surprised if the choppers comes in higher. Either, a hook to gain interest, and / or the sellers reserve.

Queen Vic is rarer but less popular, certainly not worth twice as much and wouldnt be surprised if the choppers comes in higher. I'm curious why you believe Vic is less popular? I don't have either but I'd choose Queen Vic long before a HC but that's just me. Admittedly, I know a handful of collectors who rate HC among his best. But, Vic is crude a la Rude Copper and it's lush red and red always sells. Before I hit paste, I'll check artnet just to be sure and I should admit in advance that I have no idea as to condition of the prints for any of the prices that I'll post:
Signed HC went for 8750 at bonhams in April of '13, another at 8750 at Bonhams in October of '12, 5500 in April of '12 (albeit at lyon and turnbull which does it no favors) and 13k at Bonhams in April of '12. Before that is kind of stale pricing imo.
As for Vic a signed one went for 8 (wow) at Christie's in Dec. '13 and an AP went for just 7500 but way back in '09 which was another world and stale data.
I guess you're right but I still recall vividly that 250k+ Queen Vic painting in a Sotheby's evening sale which was around the time the divorce from Laz was announced. To my eyes the shock value in red and rarity would always command a premium but I suppose I'm wrong.

It is more likely to be down to the condition of each print or the auction house's view on rarity IMHO.

To my eyes the shock value in red and rarity would always command a premium but I suppose I'm wrong. From memory, there are also very few signed vics. I think that's the reason. If I recall correctly, there was no separate signed edition for this print and the signature was added only when someone clicked on "signed". Back then, very few people wanted to pay more for the signature so there are likely few signed prints on the market.

Lee my opinion is that HC is more populist ie the legions of new banksy fans would sooner go for that image over queen vic. It's an easier image to digest and more wall/girlfriend friendly. Also queen vic probably means more to UK fans than the worldwide audience which limits its appeal.
Queen vics (unsigned) have always sat around on eBay for ages and ages at the £1500-£2000 level whereas HCs go really quickly. Having said that one just finished at £2550 on eBay but perhaps HC would finish higher that that who knows.
My question was really about how Bonhams can value the queen vic at double that of HC, seems way out to me. Due to rarity I would put a higher value on it (signed) but not double.
