Jody solo show - Paintworks, Bristol, by Feral Things on May 10, 2013 18:32:44 GMT 1, I went to check out the exhibition earlier today and, like you say Hunter, it really is worth checking out.
I'm afraid my iPhone photography really doesn't do the work justice but it feels so effortless and elegant in person that you really should go and check it out. The photos don't pick up any of the subtleties unfortunately; but I was very sorely tempted by the dipped hand piece.
I have more photos of the show if anyone wants to see them, but I wasn't sure what the etiquette was about uploading photos, given that hopefully other forum members will go and see it in person and I wouldn't want to spoil the experience them by seeing everything online beforehand.
For those that don't know Jody's work, he was part of the golden age at the Barton Hill Dugout back in the late '80s and early '90s. I was lucky enough to get to see him paint the ballcourt at the Dugout again a few years back:
And here's another piece from a few years back painted at St George's Skatepark:

My favourites were Sasha, Rise up and Palomino. Would love to see further photos of the first 2.

The Palomino piece was unsurprisingly already sold.

Apart from Upfest, there are a few other things I'd recommend. Eko has a show at the Art-El gallery and if you've got time I'd check out the Ai Weiwei and Zwelethu Mthethwa pieces in the No Borders exhibition (I wasn't particularly fussed for the other pieces but that's probably just personal taste).
The Happy Mondays are also playing Vegfest that weekend.
