I'm just surprised he has such a following on an urban art board. He's got absolutely nothing to do with the scene at all, it's just curious that he's so regularly written about on here.

I think the simplicity of the OG, the black space around the child, was what made Nellephant stand out at S2, and its positioning at the far end of the walls was perfect to draw in the viewer. I'm just surprised he has such a following on an urban art board. He's got absolutely nothing to do with the scene at all, it's just curious that he's so regularly written about on here.
There's a mix of artists supported here that have either come from the street (self taught) or have had a proper art training and have nothing to do with the street, however are either edgy or not quite mainstream, or cross over. Many of these schooled artists come up through the same channels, printmaking galleries like Jealous etc. and it seems in many cases are working the edge by print releases, which is not done so often outside of this urban/street world.
Be interesting to list the assorted artists followed here by whether they have a fine art background (like Kaws, Peterson, Baker), no art background, or a graphic design background.

Given what NightHawk put I've asked if he got a response (he's not on this forum) his response made me laugh....

I don't think it's fair to characterize those as simply "prints," with Charming painting the background and the amount of other hand finishing involved.
Β£1,500 is certainly nothing to sneeze at for a pretty modestly-sized piece of artwork, but the Nellephant canvas was priced at Β£70,000.
I won't pretend to compare the two as equals. But the wood versions seemed to offer those Baker fans who can no longer afford his true originals with something at a fraction of the price, yet also having some of the artist's direct touch

Congrats to those who purchased one. I'm so glad I was able to purchase a Fall to Alms print when it was released two years ago. I really love that one. And with those new prices I'll probably won't have another chance to buy something hand-finished by Charming Baker.

When i looked at the original photos they did not do it for me but the framed version looks so good - I don't even have to debate how to frame it - I'm doing the exact same (well unless my framer comes up with something that is truly spectacular)....
I'm struggling to work out where to hang it but I will figure it out!
