POW Pictures on Walls, by Deleted on Jan 17, 2015 14:36:06 GMT 1, its a real shame about POW- they have a couple of big ticket artists who get churned instantly when / if they release- as i have touched on earlier, i used to be a regular at the POW fucntions , but it all got too greedy and £££ driven by the arrival of new punters - think that last one I went to was the Mexcian themed one - it was embarrasing, as no one seemed to be bothered about the prints or the artists present and were just hassling about the NBG release.
they still sell art, but not art that can be churned for a quick profit.so most people are not interested. symbolic of the whole arena really

Stencils, slogans cheapo pr team. Knock out some screenprints and Bobs your uncle. At worst someone will buy the prints, at best who knows, the worlds your Oyster.

But it was a bit odd that last summer they cleared out their stocks. Great for me though, I got a lovely Eine print, which I was very grateful for....
For me POW was bigger than Banksy, I would have no problem if they never issued anything more by Banksy, but it would be a shame if this was it.

Don't blame them and suspect that they sell work by their artist rosta to collectors.

It's a shame it went like that, but I guess it was just a matter of time. At least now the Artists have total freedom on what images they release and at what price.

I just read that 'man behind the walls book' (not sure how accurate it is?) says in there Banksy makes/made all the POW/cans festival/santas ghettos/Bethlehem etc. decisions? Which artists to invite for their shows etc. he controlled everything - so he probably pulled the pin on the gorilla print for some reason? In the book I think it says only him and Hewitt still have shares in the place, Hewitt has most. Steve lazrides sold his years ago for 70k pounds (from memory).. I wouldn't buy this book but If you can borrow it it's worth a read.
