Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by met on Mar 9, 2015 7:52:07 GMT 1, It pains me to tell you this Roy as you strike me as being a beautiful human being, but your Banksy Barely Legal card is fake. There was a time when I would happily explain why, in order to prevent others from being duped into buying similar fakes. Sadly, these days such info is more likely to be used by one of the many home-printing parasites here who hide behind manufactured personas as duplicitous as their wares. If you'd care to PM me your address I'd like to send you something. Ah. Ok, I will take off the announce. It was not a card but a piece of sheet, and as the ebay artseller ( that 's a very wellknown person working at a moment with S.Y. , well I trust him a lot, I will pm you why... ) said, " it was given by some persons in the queue of the LA exhibition " - not at the exhibition ) ... But I understand, when you see this ( the piece of sheet ) it's easy to make a copy ( the bad cut was fro me a proof of authenticitiy - you know it was as some persons of the staff made it quickly for the large public - ) but if you say no, you are right surely )... Thank You sir ! ;-) A kind gesture from @lordsofpork.
Lroy — This 'elephant in the room' flyer may actually be the one you acquired from me on eBay three or four years ago. I believe it was a small extra or bonus included with the Barely Legal poster I was selling at the time.
If that is indeed the case, then I confirm the flyer is completely genuine, not fake, and it was picked up by me directly from the exhibition in Los Angeles eight and a half years ago.
Of all the shows I've ever experienced, Barely Legal is easily one of my favourites and most memorable. I made repeat visits, attending three out of the four days, for hours each time. Among the team of people helping out at the show, I specifically recall seeing Kelsey Brookes and Paul Insect, the latter wearing a t-shirt I coveted featuring the Shrigley image in my avatar.
What may be causing confusion or mistaken assumptions here is the fact that those free flyers were reprinted more than once over the course of the exhibition. The crowds were so overwhelming that stacks left out for visitors would quickly disappear.
I can also confirm that the flyers were of a noticeably lower quality each time I visited. This is perhaps unsurprising given the sheer numbers of people attending the show and looking for a keepsake. At the preview, the flyers available were printed on thin card; they were nice little souvenirs. The next day, those I saw still looked professionally done, but they were now on normal printer paper. By my final visit, the flyers were quickly-produced photocopies (like the one you have), cut without excessive care using a guillotine or box cutter — still genuine, but nothing close to the quality of the ones originally produced.
All the best with your sales.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by met on Mar 9, 2015 8:01:12 GMT 1, Shame on you, Stoko. Shame on you and your deliberate attempt to mislead. I've never had a problem with your previous posts, but the one above is a total misrepresentation. Anyone who's read the comments made by anodyne13 ( here), mojo ( here & here), myself ( here), @nordicstar ( here), anorak ( here & here), Sturban Has Saggy Tits ( here) and @headfall ( here) can see the concerns raised have nothing to do with our self-interest. This isn't a money issue for any of us, so I won't be alone in taking exception with you dishonestly trying to paint it as such. Oops, sorry dear. didn't mean to have a pop at anyone, was an attempt at a light hearted jape. I'm not dishonestly (a tad harsh?!?) trying to paint anything. I was having some craic in reference to coach's birthday. Take exception in that. Apologies if I got the wrong end of the stick.
"dishonestly" would be a fair comment if your summing up of the arguments had been serious and intentionally misleading. However, it seems I failed to pick up on the fact you were kidding.
Your deconstructivist (or reconstructivist?) approach to japery was the curveball that threw me off. It's extremely rare to see this technique being consciously used, and hence the confusion — a rather feeble excuse on my part, admittedly.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by met on Mar 9, 2015 8:16:59 GMT 1, This thread needs to be deleted entirely Wearology. It's become an embarrassment to the forum, and there is truly nothing of substance to preserve. I fully understand why you and many others may find this thread tiresome.
However, I myself don't see the thread as an embarrassment, just a heated debate between people with different opinions about what is right and wrong.
In this respect, the exchange is relevant and quite refreshing for me, and to my eyes certainly more interesting than endless discussions about money. I also believe that many of the arguments, the ideas put forward on both sides, do in fact have substance and are worth preserving.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by met on Mar 9, 2015 8:35:32 GMT 1, Quick note -Pest Control = POW (look at who signs the COA's). They're a company that Banksy has little or nothing to do with anymore. They have their own financial interests to protect. This is 100% incorrect, totally and utterly, sorry. I have no clue where @federationofideas is getting this from.
My guess is that it's either a mistaken yet very convenient belief on his part, or wishful thinking clouding his judgement about the reality of Pest Control.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Coach on Mar 9, 2015 12:03:29 GMT 1, Tried that. No success. Need a link. As you aren't allowed to post the link in a thread, you will have to pm it to me. Are you selling your own artworks? I would like to sell them - my own artworks - but i don't dare... Who will put a bid on them ?! Nobody ... It's a bit a shame and a pain to sell my " little things " about Invader or Banksy but I have to pay kid's rent... Anyway, that's life, art is made to travel - changing of hands - and to never be an orphan or alone as an old daub in an attic... =Thank you mery much Sir LonelyFarmer ;-) , you are a gentleman.
I have seen lots of pieces by you that I would happily buy, frame and hang on my walls.

Put them on eBay and end up paying fees because buyers want something for nothing or a big name for pennies.
Support the artists and buy art made by unknown artists and boycott the big names.
their heads are big enough allready

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Deleted on Mar 9, 2015 15:56:05 GMT 1, {...} If that is indeed the case, then I confirm the flyer is completely genuine, not fake, and it was picked up by me directly from the exhibition in Los Angeles eight and a half years ago. {...} That shows how much I know I was not aware they had used photocopiers when they ran out of the original run. However, what constitutes "genuine?" The fact that they were given away by the organizers of the show? Sure; I'll buy that. I guess a better description would be: genuine, but not first run/edition.
Carry on.

Hope you don't. I was planning a cheeky bid! I don't think people think it's a fake anymore Roy, thanks to met's comments. It seems clear that it's a lower quality later flyer made available later in the show.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by met on Mar 9, 2015 20:46:15 GMT 1, Thanks for jogging my memory, Met, I'd completely forgotten (along with most events of that week) that these were reprinted on paper after the first day or so. I had compared Roy's example to my own 'souvenirs' from the event which are printed on card, and the lack of detail in the former when compared to the latter was too much for my anorak clad mind to ignore. Sincere apologies, Royston, I wish you well with the sale. Edit: met, one thing I can state as absolute fact is that wasn't Paul Insect in the David Shrigley t-shirt. Interesting.
Another healthy reminder for me about how fallible personal memories are.
This includes memories which are so ingrained — reinforced by multiple recollections of them at later dates — that, in my own head, they've turned into fact.
I still covet the David Shrigley t-shirt, featuring one of my favourite psychopaths. It brings back memories of Santa's Ghetto ten years ago. I had contacted 2K t-shirts and one of the retail outlets they dealt with (Magma) a few times afterwards, but they were sold out, first in my size and then in all sizes.

I thought about what you said this afternoon Fifthspray... And you are not wrong... Met too lol ! It' is hard to meet someone as honest as him.. I remember, One day of chance, I bought him in private some litlle " Banksy souvenirs " - as I loved to do : Stickers, poster, postcards, etc.... - and I made a big mistake : I paid the buyings - I just knew UK street-art - in euros ! And normaly, it was in £... I wrote to me, I answered him that i will give some more change and.... Guess what ? Met, answered me : " never mind, we 'll keep it like this " What a gentleman !!
Yes, Fithspray, I understand and I'll correct on the announcement - if I leave it again, which is not sure, I hesitate : it is true that it is a photocopy which can be reproduced and copied again and again with a description " obtained from Barely legal " - as for the famous fake dfaced tenners " obtained at Santa's Ghetto" ... We all know that what Met said is true, but what is Fithspray saying is also true.
I have enough been scammed on ebay - with fake Banksy signs roads coming from Weston-supermare or berlin ( ? ) , with a tenner paid overpriced, etc, etc.. that I thought ( maybe too much lol ) that it is not fair to pay for artworks that are false, especially when we are a fan and that we have little little money... For god 's sake , one day a horse permitted me to buy these little and so great pieces of art...
The end of the post made a bit of confusion ( there was not) and I edited it.. I'm a little bit lost in translation soemetimes and I say the contrary taht I want to say, lol ! ;-) Cheers my friends ! ;-)
{...} If that is indeed the case, then I confirm the flyer is completely genuine, not fake, and it was picked up by me directly from the exhibition in Los Angeles eight and a half years ago. {...} That shows how much I know I was not aware they had used photocopiers when they ran out of the original run. However, what constitutes "genuine?" The fact that they were given away by the organizers of the show? Sure; I'll buy that. I guess a better description would be: genuine, but not first run/edition.
Carry on.
I'm a little bit lost in translation soemetimes and I say the contrary taht I want to say, lol ! ;-) Cheers my friends ! ;-)
