Agree, I meant more in the sense of what Wynwood used to be like and not at what it has become. It used to be the place to go to see next art but the corporate heads and food trucks have changed it into something different

Visit MIAMI ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Deleted on Nov 19, 2015 21:04:19 GMT 1, Hey @hxfour Yeah, 2nd - 4th is solid. The weekend (friday night, saturday, saturday night) end up full of onlookers. So the Weds, Thurs, Friday is solid. My advice, do the beach Wednesday night, Aqua's opening is that night and unlike Art Miami's opening (which i can stand) Aqua is rad. If you need to get on getting opening passes, hit up the website. www.aquaartmiami.com, Scope, Untitled, and Pulse are all open on the 2nd, so you should be able to kill the beach in a day. Sounds like you are leaving on the 4th, so I would have said Wynwood on the 4th (for the Jaime xx show) but outside of that go Thursday the 3rd. You have Art Miami | Context, Spectrum, Red Dot, X Contemporary and the Wynwood galleries to check out. Alternatively, as has been said, there is some cool, rawer stuff happening in Little Haiti and Little River these days (I personally lament calling anything the next wynwood, because I see wynwood as a cautionary tale, whatever comes next should aspire to be the Anti Wynwood, or the Wynwood that should have been, but I digress). One note, if you have never been to the big show Art | Basel, understand that its MASSIVE and while it is the top of the mountain in art, you will miss a lot of what you may really like to experience it. That disclaimer aside, it is the top of the mountain, the art show to go to in order to see how the other half lives. (if you want to find a 6 foot tall ball of tin foil for $1,000,000, its there). Also, as I said before, watch IG, if you can go to a pop up event that looks cool, blow off a fair and go check it, because its likely to be a moment that wont repeat. Its a risk but it could be rad. Only advice on travel, based on the news about the venitian, i would try as hard as possible NOT to cross the bridge on any day, you will lose 2 hours (could be more, could be less) but I would get to one side and work your way around there, vs plan a day where you are trying to hit Scope and something in town on the same day. Thanks man, Art | Basel is the reason im going, doing it the 2nd immediately after I land. and I'll be with that other half who has quite a bit of work for sale. Stoked to see some tin foil.
All of this sounds great, making plans now!

Visit MIAMI ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by mmmike on Nov 25, 2015 18:15:21 GMT 1, I'm there the 2nd to 4th, anyone else? I booked my flights last night. 2nd to the 5th. Looking forward to it. I'm broke and not planning on buying anything just hoping to see some cool art, hang out at the beach and see a Miami Heat game. If anyone finds themselves with extra passes to any of the shows I could put them to good use
Hope to see some of you there.

Visit MIAMI ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by mmmike on Nov 25, 2015 18:18:57 GMT 1, Reside in Miami. My wife and I favorite time of year. We will be out and about all week long. You guys should look into going to some of the smaller, underground stuff that happens around Lynwood and Little River areas. More of the vibe that Basel used to be Sounds good any more details would be appreciated.
The one time I was in NY for the Armory week the Spring Break show was my favorite. Some really cool wild stuff. Would love to see the Miami equivalent if there is such a thing?

Visit MIAMI ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Deleted on Dec 4, 2015 7:46:03 GMT 1, This is disgusting... What would you if you find out your art partner/agent or you fav auction houses or your gallerist or even your client is involved in this
The article in Guardian below (heard the same on BBC) shows that there is a well-known trail, but I guess govts don't do much to stop it (unlike in US with adoption of recent law stipulating that owning, purchasing or trading looted art from Syrian is a crime).
So on top of being the best market to clean dirty money and for the being of the most unregulated market where collusion and other shady practices is common, these guys are know banking on looted art. THE ART WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL
www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/03/antiquities-looted-by-isis-end-up-in-london-shops
"Christos Tsirogiannis, a forensic archaeologist working with the SCCJR, says: โMany antiquities dealers that we now know trafficked and traded in illicit objects were based in Geneva, Basel or Zurich โฆ Germany was also picked as a country where, one way or another, the goals and aims of illegal traders were satisfied.โ These European destinations, says Tsirogiannis, are where illicit goods were typically laundered โ changing hands, passing between dealer and conservator in order to create a paper trail that would then be used to sell objects on to auction houses in London and New York.
Switzerland/Germany: A series of major raids and trials in the 1990s found that items from the near east would often be laundered through mainland Europe. Dealers in Basel or Geneva would falsify a paper trail in concert with conservators before sending them on to their final destinations.
London/New York: Items that have picked up a convincing paper trail can be sold lucratively at auction in the UK or US. But even smaller items that have no such provenance can be found in antique shops, hidden in plain sight among legitimately sourced objects."

Visit MIAMI ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by therivler1 on Jan 2, 2016 22:53:02 GMT 1, I was in Miami over the break, here are my pictures from the Wynwood area. Wynwood Walls was mobbed and has become quite the tourist destination. Not too mnay people on the streets though.
I'd say I probably saw 60% of what was there in 2 hours. Would have been great if I had a bike.

I was in Miami over the break, here are my pictures from the Wynwood area. Wynwood Walls was mobbed and has become quite the tourist destination. Not too mnay people on the streets though.
