Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by nah on Nov 27, 2009 15:02:22 GMT 1, I think Shep seems to be heading down such a big mass market poster route that he's tainting his own image as an Artist and will be remembered as more of a Graphic Designer.
yeah just like that no-name warhol innit

HUSH London Solo Show - Innocence - 12th Nov, by nah on Nov 13, 2009 21:30:51 GMT 1, copying the text as not so many people will check out the link....... FRAUD. by INKFETISH 40HK. I'm no art critic, but... I just could'nt let this go. This guy winds me up to no avail. He goes by the name of 'HUSH' and has been exhibiting his artwork around the UK and overseas for the last few years and now has a show coming up at Urban Angel in London. Let me first tell you that NONE of this guys artwork is his own. All his images are lifted from well respected Manga artists, specifically U-JIN that I personally grew up enjoying. Nowhere on his website has he mentioned any of these artists and I doubt any of his hipster collectors are too clued up on their Japanese comic history. I see a s**t load of plagiarism going on in the low brow scene but this is it at It's worst. And no he's not 're-interpreting' the image...he's stealing it and having to use a stencil to re-create it as he obviously can't paint freehand. The handstyles reek of a lack of history in his 'chosen field' and his 'canvas work' often feature tags from well known writers cropping up in the background charmingly recreated. Kinda makes me mad. He's just one of the names as that popularise the idea that art as concept beats art as craft, showing that art can be a team-built, hands-off, ready made phenomenon causing a whole generation to produce art that doesn't so much reject as coldly ignore traditions of painting, drawing and sculpture... I've never considered myself on either the graffiti or street art 'side of the fence' but this is street art at it's absolute worst. Where's 10foot when you need him?! I'm pretty open minded so would be interested to hear the views of anyone calling to his defense/justifying his work. It's a free country and we have the right to paint whatever we want but I think it's fair people know the facts before they believe the hype.
bah half this forum own prints/originals by him, people are just going to turn a blind eye like when he was outed for using multiple accounts to hype his stuff
doesnt really bother me as long its not my money being spent. interesting to watch tho.

Cartrain ๐ฌ๐ง Tate Gallery โข Damien Hirst โข Gilbert & George, by nah on Nov 4, 2009 14:03:57 GMT 1, or cry... No. Cartrains response when you called him a TERD was hilarious It would seem to me that cartrains imagination, understanding and reason are cultivated by processing data both from the external world and the internal mental one not only to gain conceptual knowledge that gives rise to practical action but by also by the use of harmonious free play well done CARTRAIN nice to see the TATE take you seriously

New (and awesome) Paul Insect piece, by nah on Oct 28, 2009 20:51:46 GMT 1, Micallef: "I've had enough of soldiers and angels. I'm moving on to dogs now." Insect: "Great, do you mind if I pick up where you left off?" Micallef: "Sure thing. Keep it in the family." haha yes A level street art. It would be interesting to know why people find this 'awesome'. Maybe because it ticks the boxes of familiarity (angel - tick, soldier - tick, mortality - tick)...I appreciate art is relative and ideas are often nicked from other artists. But there is no originality whatsoever in this.
Dude not sure if you noticed but the guy is a SKELETON. Do you have any idea how edgy that is?

Any Parla's Out There, by nah on Oct 22, 2009 22:18:33 GMT 1, True, they might possibly make money. I see it and think yeah, it's a nice painting, but I still think it just isn't going to resonate that much with people that aren't into the street, tagging thing and worse it keeps reminding me of that decorative abstract art, the kind you find in those cheesy galleries that cater to interior decorators who buy them up in bulk for offices or model homes, like so...
Ha... Had the exact same thought when I first saw his stuff
