FAILE - The Art And Nothing But The Art, by ogrgel on Aug 30, 2007 14:32:14 GMT 1, Overall, i was really impressed with the recent release... ..but not completely blown away. I'm a huge fan of Faile and have been since i found them, but I noticed that their new (and, i mean NEW, not remixed) pieces just seemed to lack a bit of the 'something' that first drew me to them. I don't know if this was due to their split with Aiko, but even as much as i loved all the new work, there was an element that is distinctly different about it compared to all the old skool Faile pieces. I'm not a huge fan of Aiko's solo work, but she did have a feminine-streety-dirtiness to her that for me really seemed to make everything about Faile come together. I mean, the girl cuts stencils that actually look like stencils and i personally really dig that. I don't know where Faile's going from here (up, most likely) but I'll continue to support them in the hope that the two remaining members of the original trio will keep knocking out works of sheer dopeness. All in all, I'm sure their future releases will be exceptional, but I'm just really anxious to see them develop a solid blend of the old into the new. And, huge ups to the boys for sorting out the whole refund mess!
.. I think there is a massive difference between pics on their site and the actual work in flesh .. .. I think we'll be blown away when the prints start to arrive .. mark my words .. .. or I would be if a got any ..

FAILED REPUTATION, by ogrgel on Aug 30, 2007 10:04:35 GMT 1, Think I'm with you AgentBacardi although my head's hurting a bit and I think I'm going to have to lie down. Top and bottom of it is they did the decent thing. Everyone's happy. Just hope it's not an image of Poison Boy. What's all that about?
.. it seems quite clear .. computer games , guns and junk food = .... .. poison(ed) boy

The FAILE Refunds Thread, by ogrgel on Aug 29, 2007 23:16:16 GMT 1, Don't speak to soon, they are not in order and they are still being refunded as we speak! good luck though
I wish I had everything refunded tomorrow when the dollar drops again and at least make some money of it

The FAILE Refunds Thread, by ogrgel on Aug 29, 2007 21:58:49 GMT 1, I spent ยฃ328 on a print but only got refunded ยฃ309! If that's what I'm losing on a cheap print I dread to think what I'll lose on an original that I failed to get!
I just realized that the last refund I received cost me 45 quid ..
thats the worst print release ever .. not just I didn't get anything .. I even had to pay for it ..

The FAILE Refunds Thread, by ogrgel on Aug 29, 2007 21:06:04 GMT 1, there is at least one good thing with being refunded and that is the feeling of having $740 extra to spend on something else...

The FAILE Refunds Thread, by ogrgel on Aug 29, 2007 21:03:06 GMT 1, Does anyone know if they are actually going in any order on issuing the refunds? Originally, it looked as though they were going in order that the prints came up for sale but now it's not clear if that's the case or not.
it's over for me .. order or not .. all three of my purchases are now refunded ..

What'd make your collection complete, by ogrgel on Sept 8, 2007 9:44:36 GMT 1, I must admit that I probably didn't think it through when I was choosing title for this thread .. it kind of changes into Holy Grail thread .. ;D
thanks for all the input though
there is one more thing that I'm kicking myself for not buying when I had the chance because it wasn't my priority at the time .. .. Insects shooting target prints from POW .. love them all

What'd make your collection complete, by ogrgel on Sept 7, 2007 20:49:23 GMT 1, .. temporarily ..
is there an artist who's piece you wanted to add to your collection for some time but there were other priorities ?
in my case it would be
Space Invader (probably Albino invader) Bast (Kojak or Peter Sellers piece )
and inspired by Streetgirls recent post in Get your Banksys out .. Peter Kennard's Blair Photo Op
what's yours

screen printing, by ogrgel on Aug 27, 2007 12:07:20 GMT 1, I know about company called POW. According to the info on their web they might help : We are pleased to offer a range of screenprinting services to suit your artistic needs. But please, no taxi adverts, pizza menus or abstract expressionism. You never know...could be earlier then the new Banksy release ;D
.. and maybe Steve Laz sees it and takes you under his wings .. and before you know it you are the new Micallef ..
;D

Neate 2am Blog, by ogrgel on Aug 17, 2007 12:50:48 GMT 1, The framing does stand out and really complements each work but I wondered why they weren't framed with Museum quality glass as that would have cut out glare and reflections out by 90%. I was standing opposite one on the top floor and all I saw was a reflection of me.
I bet you were thinking .. 'What a masterpiece" ...

Neate 2am Blog, by ogrgel on Aug 14, 2007 15:44:22 GMT 1, There haven't been that many prints sold yet though. I didn't hear too many people talking about investment in the gueue but more about the art. Having said that the married couple in front of me in the queue both bought copies of 2am Blog so I guess there is at least one destined for the bay. Did you get into the preview? Because the general opening was baggers paradise!! Limiting to one print did not stop many there was an elderly couple who seemed lovely chatted away in the queue with them for a while, it was not untill they reached the front of the line and it came out they had both been to the preview the night before and they had already purchased six prints between them. They even seemed quite annoyed when told thay could only get two more prints, if i remember rightly two copies of 2am
I think I know who you mean .. they were standing right behind me on Friday .. that old crow had terrible breath

neate prints, by ogrgel on Aug 3, 2007 15:27:37 GMT 1, yup one per person. Pretty organised queueing system although it took forever because they only had one person (plus a young boy) manning the sales. Paul floated in and out but wasn't helping out.
before entering we were given a raffle ticket so actually there was no need to queue ..

My INVADER Pride and Joy!, by ogrgel on Mar 17, 2007 17:22:38 GMT 1, Wow. first off. I am an artist myself and I fully understand what it means to take something from the street. I had no intention of ever having this piece I was merely surprised as to what it was doing on their doorstep, when?, how? etc. they only said it had showed up about a year ago. and looking at it as you can see it is rather large and has two invader pieces together which leads me to believe as curley said that it was possibly just dumped. When I explained to them about Invader and how famous he was they appreciated my enthusiasm and said do you want it? I of course said "f**k yeh" -- who wouldnt in this situation?!?!? Beside the fact that their storefront is below streetlevel it was covered in dirt and bird s**t (see pictures -- the picture I took was after I started sweeping it and then I realised I should take a pic because it was such a f**king great find -- believe me it was much more disgusting) this peice wasn't being appreciated by streetart lovers -- now it is. The shop is located on 4th street between 1st and 2nd avenue. (I live on 3rd between 1st and 2nd avenue) and there are many invader pieces around this area. Im gonna go over to the shop today to take a photo of where it was so you can all see. And what is this about it being exactly the same as cutting a banksy piece from a wall. absolutly not! I had no intention of even taking it home when I asked them about it -- they offered it up and in this situation it made sense. noone even knew it was there!
fair enough , mate .. I am off your back now ..
well maybe one more thing
even though it is piece of art (untill someone gives us a proof that it's not a genuine Invader) it would be nice if it served a purpose it was made for .. to be a artdoormat
but it sure does look great in the frame as well

My INVADER Pride and Joy!, by ogrgel on Mar 17, 2007 14:29:02 GMT 1, yes , of course .. it is a beautiful piece , great framing job and you most likely saved it from ending up in the bin and never been discovered ...
.. and I am not saying I am a saint ..
.. but what is the diference between this and taking banksy piece and part of the wall with it ..
.. it is a street art .. and that's where it should be ..
.. but who am I to judge .. I am probably just jealous it is not hanging on my wall ..

My INVADER Pride and Joy!, by ogrgel on Mar 17, 2007 12:46:07 GMT 1, Yeah, you would have to really give it hell to get it off in one bit, some tricky tools would be needed. Still think it should be on the streets, if everyone went around removing them, there would be nothing, oh well invader, if this ones cosher, its a -1 on the invader map!
again .. truth
you would not go to the gallery and take a picture off the wall just because there is no security ..?!?!?!

Faile Books, by ogrgel on Apr 19, 2007 10:57:53 GMT 1, This was an email from Faile: Also, there's a New York exhibition in the works for the end of May. We will let you know the dates and location soon. For those curious about prints, the next release will probably be towards the end of June / early July. Thanks again to everyone for the support. Our very best, Faile
thanks for the info motor .. lets hope the next release will bring something new and not only variations on previous works ..

Wrong War. Blair withdraws troops., by ogrgel on Feb 22, 2007 14:16:25 GMT 1, You think if we didn't go there, the children would have less exposure to guns and fighting? They had little chance for a "settled environment" without other countries intervening. Iran has been surrounded by Sunni controlled nations for a long time, and now they see this war as an opportunity to fortify Shiites in a neighboring country. Iranians are pumping money into Iraq saying it is for women's centers, schools, etc., but supposedly they refuse to keep any record of where it actually ends up. This makes me feel a bit like we are actually facilitating a prolonged war in this area of the world. I think your "50 years" may be quite a bit short of the mark, Silk. Regardless of Blair's motives and the actual outcome, I can't hate on the move at all. Over the next few days 1,600 men will be out of the line of fire. It just further proves that public opinion can still make a difference, and maybe will give a few more people the confidence to speak out.
if he'd care about public opinion he wouldn't sent the troops there in the first place .. but what do I know
