Josh Sperling ๐บ๐ธ Print Release โข Perrotin โข Case Studyo , by honestcrooks on Oct 27, 2021 18:09:02 GMT 1, Man, those lamps are selling for dirt cheap now. Well, it's the cheapest one around (if I'm allowed to make a mini-sales argument :-D) and if it wasn't because of having too much to display, this one wouldn't leave the house. It's a great piece, but it wouldn't get a place in the new house, which would a shame.
A lot of interest on it though (that and the little pink vase), so it seems there are still quite some Sperling-fans around.

Bad Buying Experience from (Name removed)o, by honestcrooks on Dec 11, 2020 10:22:54 GMT 1, I don't understand why as a seller you wouldn't want insurance on your piece. Every time I sell something, I almost insist to ship it with insurance. If for one reason or another, the buyer doesn't want to, I let him clearly state it's HIS choice not to pay for insurance and it's on his risk. Other way around, if as a buyer the seller doesn't want to help me out with insurance on his piece, I just don't buy it. Things can go well one thousand times, it only has to go south once and then you're screwed. And I've never, ever opened a package in front of a courier. I barely get to see their back when they run away after they threw the package off at my door.
I've had a similar case with a porcelain piece of CaseStudyo a few months back. I sold it to a very friendly gent in Asia. I asked him if he wanted insurance, he said he didn't need it to. I put it in the invoice that I asked and he declined and by paying the invoice he would be ok with it. I provided perfect pictures of every angle with clear characteristics of the piece (a little imperfection in paint and such) so in the worst case of something breaking, we both could rely on the right pictures and that the piece couldn't be switched upon delivery. Once it arrived, the piece arrived broken even though the packaging was perfectly fine and only was in transit for 3 days from EU to HK. He asked me if I could check with insurance what we could do and I pointed out I asked him twice and he declined both times. Luckily for me, the buyer was a man of honor and he admitted his mistake by not taking insurance and he thanked me for the good transaction and saw no flaw in my actions.
Are there any pointers (for seller AND buyer) where you can verify the pictures you traded of the broken and complete figure, are the same sculptures? Little imperfections in paint, certain details that are put on by hand that could differ from each other? Just to make sure the buyer didn't switched a broken piece upon delivery or the seller who had 2 pieces of the same sculpture and wanted to offload the broken version.
Very curious to see how this will end. Hope it will be resolved for both parties. Nobody wins in this otherwise.

Baldur Helgason ๐ฎ๐ธ New Painting โข Exhibition News , by honestcrooks on Oct 16, 2020 8:41:04 GMT 1, All PMโs replied to. A lot of tire kickers. Donโt ask for photos if youโre not interested in purchasing. Thank you. I guess that's what you get when you don't post a picture, price and ask for offers in your listing. I would love to know what the image and price is, but I don't inquire because it would be out of curiosity and apparently that's not done (?).

DFace - Stocking Up, by honestcrooks on Jul 23, 2020 10:05:43 GMT 1, I can't imagine anyone is suddenly getting excited about Dface. He's been around a while, his style hasn't changed... He's always been semi popular, but never crazy levels. Completely true. They have always kept their value at retail, but the crazy prices are long gone on his aftermarket. In all honesty, that's what I thought about Parra too (and I own my fair share of him) until all of a sudden a bunch of Asian collectors contacted me through IG to see if I had any stuff for sale. The prices at auctions have been all over the place lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if that part of the market is just stocking up everything they can find.

DFace - Stocking Up, by honestcrooks on Jul 23, 2020 9:27:16 GMT 1, Asian collectors are completely disrupting the market atm. I don't know if the rumor about dFace is real, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit. I hear (and notice) a lot of movement regarding the older generation of artists in streetart. It seems everyone over there is stocking up in the hope of finding the next Warhol or Kaws.

Wanted: Edgar Plans's works, by honestcrooks on Jul 17, 2020 9:57:27 GMT 1, Fascinated to know what people expect to pay for Edgar's work. I personally have a 130x120 piece that I just received. Itโs was commissioned a year ago so I paid what I paid. Current primary on that side is around โฌ12,000 secondary market pricing would have to be a lot more to tempt anyone to sell, so would someone really drop 20k? Yeah, there are enough people who would drop that for his works. Just as there are people who drop 5k for a Woodstock Kaws, 56k for a set of 7 Chums prints or God knows how much for a Relic by Arsham. I think if you (not you, but you know, people) play their game right, they could make a ton of money on the really quick flip these days. Which is a very sad thing of course. And as much as I dislike this practice, you can't blame them on taking advantage of people who are cursed with the magical combination of misinformation and unlimited funds in the world of collecting.
Oh, and congrats on the commission. Plans is really not my cup of tea, but getting a commissioned piece by the artist you love is something very special. Enjoy it mate! (Or sell it and buy something the entire family can enjoy, like a swimming pool or something like that :-D)

Nothing for sale, by honestcrooks on Feb 13, 2020 7:14:27 GMT 1, Hahaha, damn, this forum makes me laugh every time. :-D
I can't believe people take the time out of their day to ventilate such negativity towards a salethread of an item in such a limited quantity, for what? Because it would be overpriced by 200-300usd? :-D
I know first handed that someone bought the same piece for 1500usd through Facebook and nobody cared. Now it's being offered for 200usd more and all of a sudden it's blasphemy.
It's like bonbon said above. Price is determined by supply and demand. I've had items sit for a long time online for just above retail. Removed them for a month and sold them for almost twice my original asking price (by demand, not by offering them up again) not long after. So yeah, it seems it all depends on when and where you put stuff up for sale. Sadly for the OP, it seems this forum isn't the spot for it atm.
And zacksz123123, it just feels like you are are a bit sour because you missed out the first piece at 1.2k. when he offered it to you. Maybe his friend saw that the OP's sold pretty quickly at 1.2k and asked the OP now to sell his for 1.7k with a bit of commission on top. I don't know, but it comes across like that (not hating, just thinking out loud)
Anyway, let's all just go back to buying Calleja prints for 5k , flip Nara prints of 250usd for 1k and promote Gondek as the next big thing ;-)

Nothing for sale, by honestcrooks on Jan 23, 2020 15:11:25 GMT 1, โฌ500 excluding shipping and sales tax. Seller is trying to squeeze as much profit out of the buyer at $1700. What was the release price on these? I like the look of them, but not sure I "get" his work! I think it's all in the eye of the beholder. In all honesty, one went for 2k the other day and with his long anticipated upcoming Louis Buhl release, I'm pretty sure he'll go up in price even further.
I may be biased as I have one, but it's a very special piece in hand. The finishing and "effect" are outstanding and as we are used to by CaseStudyo releases, it's already a magician's trick to get hold of one at retail. This is a hard to get release by an up and coming artist which sold out in seconds. Not one of the 12 colorways in an edition of hundreds by one or another hypeartist.

Josh Sperling ๐บ๐ธ Print Release โข Perrotin โข Case Studyo , by honestcrooks on Dec 31, 2019 16:51:10 GMT 1, Of course I'm biased because I own both and however I feel these prices are madness, that RTC changed hands a few times already for over 2k, and a set of the Sperling vases sold already for 5k. So even though it might be priced a bit on the high end, he's not very far off.
On the other hand, why wouldn't a Sperling vase sell for 3k when it's a classic Sperling shape, high quality finishing and CS is basically the only affordable thing he releases through. 4 years ago a squiggle costed 800usd from source, while now it fetches 32k on auctions. It's a crazy time we live in

Parra Upside Down Face Vase, by honestcrooks on Nov 17, 2019 16:12:03 GMT 1, If anyone bought and changed their mind, let me know. I don't get the Parra market whatsoever. Nobody wants his prints on here, but this sells out in a minute. This vase is pretty dope though. I think it depends which print, I only keep seeing one of the recent prints being offered up. I don't think its as strong as some of the others. What SufSean means, is that it took a long time before he sold his misprinted Pierced below cost. In all honesty, I've never had any problems unloading anything from Parra. As long as you give it a fair pricing, it goes to a new home in a heartbeat. I've noticed already some slight action thanks to his recent collaboration with OTI.
