highlyframable is proud to bring you LOVE BOMBS - a series of 8 originals by mikael.
mikael's been dropping these to spread the love all over hot, humid and overcrowded cities of south asia for years. and over this forum as well. these lovely art nugget of joy are now going to be available as uniques in a limited series of 8, on bigger, more intricately detailed, 18" squares canvas sheets. have one at your home, and feel its warm radiation of love glow.

Artist Statement: “In a modern world where racism, bigotry and a general lack of respect and sympathy towards the underprivileged still prevails, how nice it would be to spread love and empathy all around just like this, even if a tad forceful.”
The ones in the picture are real nice, is it on wood? Any change the wood ones like above go for sale?
Might try to grab one of the canvas releases!
Yeah these are pretty cool... Placing them beside a Chinese altar makes them more meaningful. Street art in Asia can be very tricky and dangerous, your ass is literally on the line... This guy is a crazy nut
I wonder how the 8 canvas ones look like, probably gonna get the green one...

The man in action. A little vid we plonked together.
enjoy!
As always, do let us know your thoughts! good/bad anything! we love conversations. highlyframable is a gallery without walls (figuratively and literally, actually)
Well I think they're kept simple and nice... very nice of politrix to share the pics. To put all of that across as hedious, that's pretty rude to politrix anyway.
As for those featured artists in the video, they are the real unknowns. While most try to make 'street' graffiti in their own studios and legal walls, this guy's having the bombs dropped every corner. That's more interesting.

we like hideous. there's a thing about pretty street art. they blend too well. become clutter too fast. so yes. hideous-ness is possibly the reason why we'll never be part of the South East Asian Bomb It 2 festival thing.
I can understand that you don't like them, but reacting this way I can't understand. I find it very harsh toward the artist (Mikael). Maybe he is young or just started doing this and we all have to start somewhere. Maybe he's in the art-scene for a long time and just doing what he loves/thinks is right.
I like them. I like the fact that you receive 2, one to keep and one to give away. It's not a complex image or high-end stencil, but to me the "message" behind the image (bombing with love) is powerfull.
yes. the city's almost 100% cctv'ed (i think), and dropping cards, neate-style, is about as far as we could go.
are you part of this ?
Probably.
I visit Singapore quite often, and no its not nearly 100% CCTV'd it might be for someone who doesn't paint a lot of graff, I'd say its under 5% CCTVd so go out and leave a proper mark, paint some proper walls, and don't make it sound worse than it really is in an effort to sell some weak art with a bit of 'danger' PR.

CCTVs in Singapore are not googlable and more "sensitive" than most - and they are vital in keeping the city safe and happy - is all i want to say on the subject - (can we not talk about this bit anymore? sorry I brought it up)
And apologies if it looked like i'm trying to make Mikael more "dangerous" looking. I am a chicken s**t myself as I had near brushes in my younger days and didn't enjoy it - is all i want to say on that subject, so I was suitably impressed with Mikael's little art trip.
My point: Mikael's a good friend, and a talented artist. Quite clearly, though he likes street art, he is not a graffiti artist.
He paints canvases, loads of them. so much so that he gives them away very openly.
You don't have to like Mikael's work. Some really don't. But please don't let cynicism take over this thread. Let it be a discussion about the idea, the work.
Hideous or beautiful, Mikael is doing what he believes in, and it gives him a mad, focus spirit that makes them appealing to me and the guys at HF.

Im sorry but the gallery asked for honest opinions, good or bad... you cant complain when people do so. Cartrain did them 2-3 years ago and got slated back then, time has not made the 'idea' any better IMO

dear good people of the forum, please don't neg barryh or anyone in this thread. we really don't mind at all. (a little hurt... but we'll survive.)
thank you barryh for your comments. And brooksie82 as well. Your comments do raise points we can learn from. for that thank you very much. as we've said we are new, there are lots of things to be learnt.
gm and us will try to bump your karma back much as we could.
to get brooksie82 back to +ve might take a while..
Id just tell him to keep making work, not everything has to be sold or given away to put in houses.
Remember im just 1 person giving an opinion on a forum, an artist is never going to please everyone with his art. Long term, im sure he will appreciate honest feedback, rather than being told from day1 that he is amazing by people that just want freebies.
