Just come back from HK Art Fair nice and big but short of time Elms were their with Adam Neate (he was not). Paul and Fiona were there and bought me kindly two books one with a nice AN squiggle which was great and the other unreleased but had a pick of the piece I bought in Singapore in which was great it has a DVD but not watched yet. His new work pics below is unbelievable and a massive move forward again. Pics taken from my berry so apologies but the depth and details just stunning Anyway Nuff of my crap enjoy. Three small pieces of a man kneeling Adam Neate kneeling 3 pieces HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr First of the dimensional pieces now in skin colour really stunning big step forward Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr 2nd Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr The really new pieces canvas and wood based amazing depth Met the guy and lady who had just bought this.....lucky bastard Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr This is the final Adam Neate piece. Really quite left of centre and a bit un nerving as well as being really intimate. Was quite taken with this an amazing piece. The bag over their head has a price sticker on saying paradise £1.50 Really top drawer with so much depth and the paint work if you look at it for a period as with the others is just of the highest quality. Stunning piece There kneeling on a piece of carpet that is incorporated into it Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr Adam Neate HKAF by John Hassett, on Flickr

Thanks for posting this!
That Neate "suffication" is great, took my breath! The fleshyness of the people reminds me of Blue Couple.
Great to see he's not so into the plastics anymore, I truly believe his work on canvas with acrylics (paint) is his best. What an artist!

thanks for the photos...
excellent to see his works continuing to move along... taking some of what he picked up with his acrylics into further 3d work...

Looks like you had a great day out. Some great stuff, and I can imagine some very nice price tags to go with them
Liking adams stuff too, bet the couple you met were stoked
Really like the Tryptic
I wonder where adam sits now, not really urban/ Street is it?
Can we have a classification please :-)

Wow! Thanks for the pics!!! Looks like a great time for certain. Absolutely love the kneeling man on canvas and wood! The rest are just as amazing. As you and others said, the couple really is something else!
Cheers

Hey Johnny, thanks for the pics. I'm not so keen of his plastic work but the 2nd dimensional piece is astonishing and really powerful. Do you remember how much it was?

No one does raw emotion, desolation, anguish and pain quite like Neate - takes my breath away.

JP did not ask as out of my depth. But can check for you. To give an idea the two purple pieces are £18k each.
Others have mentioned the kneeling tryptic. It's actually 3 individual pieces. They are about 10 inch x 10 inch and really detailed.
Manty agree with your point he is not really in the Urban Scene as it were anymore however I do not also really think he has lost his connection either. Really he is for want of a bracket contemporary now I assume.
Spot on Deputy really jumps out in these pieces was really quite taken back with them

Thanks for the pics Johnnyh. The kneeling canvases look amazing from afar. Seeing the detail, they look outrageous! The "Paradise" piece makes me feel like I've been kicked in the stomach...in a good way. Far and away my favorite artist in whatever category he's lumped into.

Thanks for posting pics of the adam neate stuff. Don't have any of his works, but as mentioned, the emotion and sheer reality in that kneeling piece really took me aback, just on screen. Lovely. Again thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks for the pics johnnyh...I wish I could see these in person.
It's amazing how much emotion Neate can convey in his work. For me, he has been on a whole different level for a long long time compared to the other artists discussed on this forum.
He keeps getting better.
Elms have added a few videos on their Vimeo page of the works at the 2012 HK Art Fair.

Incredible work by Adam Neate! Also saw him featured on Jaybo's Blog www.iwishusun.com/2012/05/adam-neate.htmlLove this quote below, he really is onto brilliant things! “ I wanted to drag what is perceived as painting forward to compete with the modern day barrage of visual media. We as a society are exposed to more and more visual imagery. In ten minutes on the internet a person can browse an entire world of images and instantly disregard images that hold no interest to them by the click of a button. During the past year I have taken my son to the cinema six times, to see six 3D films. His generation will grow up with an extra dimension in visual media - this language will be seen as the norm. I asked myself how can painting compete with this? With the ‘new’ painting, the viewer will be able to walk around it; light, time and space will affect / react with it.The new painting will exist! more than just depict ” ADAM NEATE

such an incredible talent. I want one of the 3D pieces but I expect you are looking at 30k plus which is bonkers?
