Bit of a long shot here, but does anyone have any of the crass stencils done by the band for any gigs, or crass related similar things...not looking for more recent stuff by Gee etc...but original crass era art...could be LP cover original art etc etc... I did say a bit of a long shot....!!!
I used to have stencils, patches, loads of stuff from them but they've All gone to the great squat in the sky. I'd love to see the originals; does gee have an agent or does anyone on here have contact with her? Penny Rimbaud has been quite accommodating abut his past recently I wonder if gee would be as keen and sort an expo out?
got all the old singles and albums, but am looking for something a bit more....could even be one of the banners they had hung up on stage etc etc....anyone link me up with someone in the know??
I remember the 'gig' some of them did at The South Bank Centre in 2002, and thought there was some artwork on display there, but not much. Certainly not what I'd hoped.
I think you're going to struggle here. The concept of any of them having an agent seems rather alien. And combined with the fact that some of them have 'disappeared' and don't want anything to do with their past is going to make your task that much more difficult.
Both Penny Rimbaud and Eve Libertine have done some stuff with Mark Stewart www.markstewartmusic.com/

There is Crass art out there. I remember Gee selling a lot maybe via Southern records in 2001(?) to fund the Save Dial house fund. If my addled memory serves me right one of the items was the collage art that formed the Bloody Revolutions poster, (if only I had gone for that then I could have sold it to you, and been justified in my claim that the "wife does not like it on the wall") I do know someone that has some original crass leaflets and phamphlets but not sure if they would sell, I'll mention you to them. Good Luck in your search, Love to see if you get anything.
Thanks Harry...I remember stumbling across that save the dial on ebay. Missed out on all the good stuff as always!! WILL KEEP ON LOOKING AND CHEERS FOR ALL TIPS
hi nacional, first post on this forum – so glad that its crass related!
andrew roth (nyc gallery) published the cracking mott collection of crass flyers and ephemera a while back – well worth finding. got mine direct from them, but seem to remember that there's somewhere in broadway market, hackney that has copies for sale too – but can't remember the name of the bookshop. well worth seeking it out.
as far as i know, crass (gee and penny) are very reluctant to sell old artwork, although the dial house benefit sale about 10 years ago at the horse hospital had lots of art donated to help raise money, none of it was by gee.
Its a mix of flyers, fanzines (including the excellent international anthem) plus crass records covers (crass, plus flux, poison girls, the mob ...) also gives a bit of background to each of the examples shown. With a couple of short essays, giving some context to anarcho punk and the collection. If you're into crass, it's a no brainer!
Happy days! Feeding of the 5,000 awesome then, just as relevant now? Gee really did (still does) some amazing art - lucky for me, she gave me a couple of small collages. Good to see a bit of Poison Girls too, always loved Vi's 'singing'! Think you'll like the book.
just thought i'd let any people who are looking to buy Crass records know that on ebay a lot of sellers are trying to pass off re-issues as original releases

not really worth much coach but trying to pass off a re-issue with poster as 1 from back in the day in mint condition is a bit wrong , cant see many crass records from back in the day been in mint condition so if there listed as such i'm sure they would attract a couple of extra quid

I see. I have all the original records. But the artwork is not quite mint, as I blutacked them all to my room. You can still pick up a your country needs you from Boo hooray.

Why, are the original releases worth something?
probably not a huge deal, but as with all 'old' things there must be a premium on originals.
My brothers bought all their 7" records (and LP's) and they usually came in fold out sleeves, 6 times the size of a 7" and were full of pics, drawings, info, radical meanderings etc etc. They were sold at a (low) maximum price, mainly in independent record shops (when there were loads of these! ) and they hence sold a lot. However they were often used and abused, stuck on walls etc, so you might not get many minty ones, and even good ones will probably smell old and look rough by todays printing standards
