seems like a nice chap, It still surprises me how when i often see an artist they look nothing like i thought they would, or talk like i thought that would etc etc. Anyone else have this , ?

Indeed , when he started talking i could stop laughing ;D. But it's about the art not the artist.

I misread the title of this thread to be stik to paint dull witch which conjured up the image of his usual output but with the addition of a cone adorning its head. It would have opened up a whole new market amongst the secretive Harry Potter hipster market for him.

I think the gallery might be doing a walking tour of these street pieces when all are complete?

I think there are to be seven pieces in total from what I remember? Be interesting to see what classic art fans make of the Stik versions, I think he was quite excited about this project.

Hi Jusdeep, Congrats on becoming two, I will get you a drink or five when I see you next. I don't mean to upset your thread but these two photos together was the funniest thing I have seen for a long time. Pure Magic!

I have to agree if I am totally honest. Although Stik seems like a really nice guy who does a lot for communities and charities alike, I really can't see the appeal or relevance of the work. It's an interesting concept but the works are poles apart and if anything I would say a project like this would do more harm than good.
Living in the area I don't see what this standard of street art achieves. Remi/Rough and Augustine Kofie's mural just down the road from the above pieces, (which has been recieved very positively and I wince even comparing the two) just puts the above pieces to shame and the first picture of the two is as far apart from the original enterpritation of 'Gainsborough's Mrs Elizabeth Moody and her two sons' as you could get.
Stiks enterpretation imo is laughable in comaprison. The thought of going on a street art tour of the area listening to some gallery representative comparing and contrasting the works or artists is beyond a joke.

Hilarious, you couldn't make it up hey.. if someone asked you to really stick it to Street Art, you know, come up with an idea that really undermines the skill, thought process, concept and talent of genuine street artists. This would win hands down.

The only thing I'm not so keen on with his street pieces is that the lines are never as clean using spray paint and kinda lets the image down a little. The print version always looks better for my eyes.

It's not too far from the park entrance, probably a few hundred yards.

Interesting to see what happens in the future. Andrew Lamberty recently said Stik is an interesting talent. he has a big future. Who knows.

Did he make a mistake and start over again? In years to come, art historians and experts will be x-raying that house to uncover exactly how Stik created his images. ;D
