New Blood curated by Morgan Spurlock @ Thinkspace, by Thinkspace on Apr 4, 2012 3:37:49 GMT 1,
โNew Bloodโ Curated by Morgan Spurlock Featuring new works from artists who have changed the art world forever, and their โNew Bloodโ: the next wave of hand picked art stars.
Plus in our project room: Stephanie Buer 'Nothing Lasts Foreverโ
Reception with the artists: Sat, April 28th 5-8PM
Both exhibits on view April 28th through May 19th
Thinkspace is honored to be working with producer/director/writer/collector Morgan Spurlock (The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Supersize Me) on his debut curatorial project. New Blood aims to showcase artists that Spurlock feels have changed the art world forever and has in turn given each of them the chance to invite a protรฉgรฉ of their choice to profile alongside their own work in this very special exhibit.
Thinkspaceโs Andrew Hosner comments โWeโve worked closely with Morgan for a number of years now and ever since I interviewed him for our blog a couple years back Iโve wanted to run the idea by him of a curatorial project. Fast forward a year and one day while catching up via phone I just threw it out there to him and he loved the idea. He came back to us a month or so later with a fully realized concept for the show and a wish list of artists to approach. Morgan has always been about helping out and supporting up and coming artists, so to see his vision for this show come to life has been very rewarding.โ
Showing concurrently in our project room will be โNothing Lasts Foreverโ, featuring new charcoal works on paper alongside a series of new oil paintings from Stephanie Buer in her debut solo exhibition with our gallery.
Morgan talks a little about his โNew Bloodโ: "I'm a massive art collector who, by way of my habit formed a relationship with Thinkspace's Andrew Hosner, and when he offered me the opportunity to curate a show I jumped at the chance. The concept of the show is how the torch is passed from one artist to the next. One opens the door so another can follow. And this show is all about artists who I think have and are continuing to impact and change the art world, and each one of these artists is bringing along an 'apprentice' or 'protege' who they think we all need to know about, the artists they believe are the 'New Blood' of the art world."
Featuring new works from: Camille Rose Garcia / Travis Lampe The Date Farmers / Albert Reyes Dzine / Jesus Bubu Negron Elizabeth McGrath / Morgan Slade Gary Baseman / Jesse Dickenson Gary Taxali / Adrian Forrow Jonathan Yeo / Charlie Gouldsborough Mark Jenkins / Sandra Fernandez Nicola Verlato / Marco Mazzoni Ron English / Kid Zoom Saber / ZES Shepard Fairey / Nicholas Bowers Tim Biskup / Patrick Hruby

About Morgan Spurlock: Morgan Spurlock (born November 7, 1970) is an American documentary filmmaker, humorist, television producer, screenwriter, political activist, bounty hunter, and journalist best known for his documentary films The Greatest Movie Ever Sold and Super Size Me. Spurlock was also the executive producer and star of the reality television series 30 Days.
Take a look at an earlier interview I conducted with Morgan here: www.sourharvest.com/2010/04/06/an-interview-with-collector-morgan-spurlock/
About Stephanie Buer: Stephanie Buer began pursing a career in art at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan where she fell in love with the city and urban exploration. She spent the next ten years living in Detroit and developing as an artist.
Her urban landscapes explore the many layers of history found in the marginal areas of cities. From the imprints of industry and production to its eventual decay, each subject has a historical context, an original purpose that is now lost. She is fascinated by how these places change as they succumb to the manipulation of vandals, artists and the resilience of nature ever slowly growing alongside. Through her art Stephanie seeks to find beauty and peace in these forgotten and unloved areas of cities. She currently works in Portland, Oregon at her studio in the Falcon Art Community.

New Blood curated by Morgan Spurlock @ Thinkspace, by Thinkspace on Apr 14, 2012 17:42:24 GMT 1, Thanks Fingerz. I feel Morgan has done a really nice job curating his half of the show and the artists have each chosen some very strong artists. Many will be interviewing each other in the week ahead, so will be sure to posts links to those here as Juxtapoz posts them on their site.

Looks like an amazing idea and should be an amazing show too, moderators, get this moved, it'll make a change to get people talking about art instead of glitter on prints/ kids outside the tate selling stuff/ free posters.
Will watch developments on this with interest
