£13k plus for signed happy choppers at auction, can somebody explain to me why sale prices are so high at these auctions where you could go to a gallery and buy the same for £7k? Is it the clientel that go to these things?

Nice to see the Ian Francis going for a reasonable price. Few on here (mine included). Good to see there is a market somewhere for a quality artist.

Blimey that's comparatively cheap. Would have sold the Mrs into (further) slavery if I'd known that!

Total sale 740,676 sterling/ $1,177,675. Total Banksy in the sale 405,425/ $644,626 or 55% of the gross.
Curious to wonder how many of us followed this sale and in total it brings in less than a small piece of paper that jean michel scribbled on for 20 seconds with oil stick just 30 years ago. I have a tough time comprehending that to be honest.

so from Lee's comment .. which is it? 'urban art is totally undervalued and one Banksy original in 30 years will sell for $644,000 .. or is it to say that one basquiat original work at $640,000 is totally over valued... i struggle with both sides of that equation. you could also throw in Haring and Warhol into that comparison. One nice large Haring canvas could easily go for over 600,000 USD.. a warhol as well. but 30 years ago they were available for the taking at less than the current Banksy prices..
