As says above, I'm looking for my first Banksy, at the moment it must be unsigned with COA. No trades just cash ;D
If near NYC even better.

Just get an EBay West Country Prince print and keep saving for a signed real one.

CNH: I'm pretty flexible, not looking for the impossible to find trying to keep it close to 1000 GBP so I'm guessing it's the usual suspects. I have seen several 1000 or a bit under in last 2 months. So if any of those haven't sold let me know. edit: I'm not too fussed about finding one, I also have my eye on a Bast print or even that sweet little Nick Walker canvas someone posted awhile back, but 4x7 inches is just a bit small for the wallspace I have.

WHY ? ...even i cant afford signed.. "laugh now" " barcode" bomb hugger" bme" queen vic" .....so i own these unsigned exactly the same as signed without the squiggle great images from the editions ...better than any west c**ty prince editions !!!!!!!! .....dont get it its a waste of money for unsigned prints ?

^^you guys think? the jump from signed to unsigned is quite a bit.
I was thinking enjoy an unsigned for awhile, then make the jump to a cheap 3k signed image. Pop the unsigned on the bay and I should make my $$ back. God knows I'm NOT going to get a Gorilla.
I'm not looking for a profit piece but more like a stepping stone. I passed on an unsigned IFTL several months back as seller got wacky with not accepting paypal and he wasn't a name I saw regularly.

Older unsigned small editions such as soup cans, plackard rats or an unsigned B&W trolley are smaller editions than alot of the newer signed only editions, and IMO classic banksy, especially the rats and trolleys, iconic banksy images in small runs for unsigned prices, whats not to love? good luck, and take your time. aim for the pre-LA unsigned and you should be able to snag a lovely unsigned for a decent price about your budget and have a classic banksy image that you'd be proud to hang without feeling you'd been bummed in the process.

I think the "don't waste money on unsigned" was a tongue-in-cheek comment.

book a flight to london in march and get in the queue! What, so you can get wound up when you miss out becuase the queue flippers have invited Mr Flip, Mrs Flip, 11 Year old flip son who been collecting for 12 years, 8 year old flip daughter who's been collecting for 9 years, his mates who all love Banksy and have done for years but knows nothing at all about art, mum, nanny flip. Don't waste money coming over to stand in a queue, waste of bloody time, they will be released on line via a lottery system (guess) Nothing wrong with unsigned, however some peoples BIN prices on the bay are a total joke. Why say "any print" ? Just so you can own a "Banksy"?

"Why say "any print" ? Just so you can own a "Banksy"? " If you are going to quote someone to be a smart a$$ you should at least get the quote right. Nowhere did I say any Banksy. I recall saying I am flexible.

Why say "any print" ? Just so you can own a "Banksy"? You say that like it is negative thing to want to own at least 1 Banksy (on a Banksy forum, no less). Personally, I try to buy at least 1 print from artists that I like (Parla or Choe is next on my list). Banksy would be no different. As bank account and tastes change, you trade up. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I can't understand why every thread that contains banksy in the header is spamed. Hello, everybody is free to spent his hard earned cash on everything he wants. singed, unsigned, DNA proofed, .....

It's not a negative thing, I've just been collecting for a while and over the years it has become a mission for a lot of people to own a Banksy, even though they are not interested in art whatsoever. I couldn't care less, after all it's more of an investment game for most nowadays anyway. Buy what you like, if you lose money on it you can still enjoy the image for years to come.
Rperry - I'm not smart nor did I intend to offend you.

IFTL is a great start for your quest for an unsigned, a great print, very underated for some reason.

I would aim for a rat if I were you - signed or not.
lookat the premium you pay for soemthing like the CYW - bigger edition than the placards, lesser image, dinky and Banksys recurring theme.
Hell, even you mericans got a few rats on yer walls over the last few years.
IMHO, the post LA stuff seems shrill and dare I say it, a bit crap in comparison to the early stuff.
Would you want a CYW on your wall for years ? A rat is subtle, simple and never stops giving

Good luck with your search -
If you do opt for an 'Unsigned Banksy' its a good thing...like you say, trade up to a signed one when you can afford.
Banksy 'Silver Flags' is a nice image. Alot go for under 1K
Either this or a 'Morons'........ CND is Possible!

I agree AB, I would love something early but not sure golf sale, CND, IFTL, etc will be available for immediate purchase and within the budget. I suppose it would have been smarter to wait for a good FS thread, however thus far they have not coincided with cash in hand.
I have received 2 PM's: love rat and trolleys, but neither has COA. I would prefer a nice quick clean purchase.
I will leave thread open for at least another day or two but then I shall move on and revisit this another day.
