Hello there,
I'm buying few print by banksy, I am wondering if it would be best to get an original edition canvas!!
Does anyone think that I can buy edition canvas for less than 23k? If yes, where can I get one??

The bonhams auction next month has an origional in it with a guide price of 15 to 20k.

You should definately get a Lenin on skates canvas for that kind of cash. Maybe even a paranoid pictures?

I also know that a PP sold privately for $75k late last year and the last one went at auction for £50k+. Madness I know. If anyone has a Lenin on skates under £25k and the poster of this thread (apprint) is not interested please contact me. There was a Lenin available in the last 18 months, can't remember exactly when. Sold for £16.5kish, I was offered it and thought long and hard. I really want a Banksy canvas / OG, but felt this would be a piece I would justify as a canvas rather than a piece of art I loved hence it's not on my wall.

Btw I also tried last year re an original from source with a circa £20k budget. At the time I was told they started about double that, probably plus vat to make the £50k quoted above

I was looking also with a 30K budget, with not a hint of anything available, everything seemed to be starting at about the 40K mark.... was surprised but not overly so.

Rawness is an appealing part of many early images, just for me there was a lack of message with Lenin

Its just my opinion but in general his prices have gone up year on year. I can certainly say that every year I have put off buying a particular piece by Banksy the next year when I have bought, it has cost me more. I wish this was not true as there are some wonderful pieces that I would love to own that will simply always be out of reach. |
