This is a good cause and agree with everything here.
However, i do think the newspapers... Particularly the online editions are really milking this now. Its like an ongoing commentary of money. Every hour they update it with the new amount and it is becoming more about the people donating than it is about the poor girl who collapsed.
Quotes from richard branson et al. They need to leave the story alone now or take the money out of it at least. The press in this country really are slime

If we are doing this, a few other practical thoughts. I personally think that a good while must be left before anyone tries to contact the family about this. A concensus would have to be reached as to what happens to the money if the family refuse or can't be contacted. Returning the money would be difficult. Charity? Heart foundation maybe? In the circumstances. I think (without wishing to inpeed upon free speech) that we need to be aware when posting about this that someone is likely to have to link this thread to the family. Otherwise asking for a copy of their fave pic is going to sound very odd. Just my 2p worth.

i agree totally that this is something that needs to be handled with sensitivity. Maybe in stead of sending money too me or anyone. We can have pledges and leave it a while to contact the family as they musy be going through hell right now.
Actually if people want to start pledging money without sending it, juts promising to if the time comes, them people can PM me with the pledge or do it as well on here to encourge others?. Pobably the best thing to do would be to start a new thread all together. What do people think?.

one of claire's friends was on tele this morning from what she said i think it needs leaving for a few months , she basically said the family just want leaving alone that would be the case if it were someone i knew. So it needs to be respected. Still loads of money has been given to a cause close to my heart. So at least 1 good thing has come out of this.

As fantastic an offer and idea as this is, I just don't think it's the right timing as Fingerz has just mentioned. If I lost somebody very close and wanted a portrait, I'd want it to be very personal thing and something I'd chosen and planned myself. It does restore some faith in society that people want to do this and also the money that has been donated, good effort to all involved.

What a funny old week it has been.......
Started last Sunday thinking I might achieve 4.30 and end up losing it at 18 miles and crawling in at 5.10.
Really disappointed with my time, until I hear about the sad circumstances of Claire Squires and realise I should be a little more grateful!
Lots of ideas flying around, but in the end I think the correct decision has been made and nothing should be decided for at least 3/4 months.
Now lets do what everyone should be doing and let her family grieve - (Feel the time is right to change title of thread)
It is now time to reward one of the many good guys on this forum - I personally feel very grateful to everyone here that supported my fundraising. The community spirit that this forum produces is amazing!
I will be drawing the winner of the £250 framing voucher on Monday, I will also be adding 4x £50 vouchers as a big thank you to you all.
