I actually don't follow... care to elaborate? I'll try I liken the work to a massive slab of chocolate gateau it looks great and the first few mouthfuls are pleasurable. Then slowly you realise what a bad idea it was to eat it. It's work that easily liked, but loses it appeal over time. I guess I'm saying it's a bit empty, for me at least. I feel exactly the same about her work. When I first saw her work 2 or 3 years ago I was like, wow. Now the excitement has faded, I'm left feeling cold by it. I obviously can see there is some skill/technique there, which she has cracked but that's where it ends for me.

I absolutely love her work. It is very powerful, very textured, full of good energy. It makes me happy when I look at one of her painting. Which is quite often as I cannot stop staring at my crayon since I purchase it. Also I think her work is quite refreshing and completes very well my collection. She's very wallfriendly, visitors always look closely at the painting and like it. If you never saw one in flesh, here are some details pics of mine:

Seen some of her works at Galerie LeFeuvre in Paris. Stunning. Was pleasantly surprised by the prices (some works were in the 2 or 2.5KEUR) though far over my budget. What was the price for crayons (by PM if you don't want to disclose that publicly) ?

Yes, more of a pork scratching than gateau man. Don't get me wrong, I do think her work is visually and technically very appealing and I can definitely see the wider appeal. I have seen many of her pieces at art fairs and in galleries and met her on a couple of occasions, just doesn't do much for me. Horses for courses.

Tobaum - that is a lovely piece. Never liked KF's work from online pictures, but saw some at Affordable Art Fair last year, at Future Tense gallery and liked it much more in the flesh than I thought I would. I had a good long chat with Paul at FT, and was close to purchasing a KF piece, but in the end I went for a very different piece by a different artist instead. I can see the point deputydawg makes in that the work is somehow less 'deep' and enjoyment might fade over time - I feel the same way about Andrew McAttee's tbh. However if you like her work, then fill yer boots - the guys at Future Tense were nice and helpful.

Check with Ed from Future Tense (edcase on the forum), he represents her. Seems like I need to requote myself as you seem to have missed it! Ed . (edcase on the forum) owns the future tense gallery and represents her so you should contact him regarding prices : www.thefuturetense.net/artists/fridriks/

Mine was bought at Lefeuvre. Regarding the crayons, there are several sizes, ballpark is +/- £ 3k.

Thanks Brushstrokes, I actuallly have been in contact with with Ed about a certain piece. The one he offered up is definitely beautiful and I am still thinking it over, and of course getting funds together for.

I like her work very much indeed. But I think it is too pricey for an artist at her time in her career. That's the only thing that's put me off buying.

Imo she's not overpriced. Her cv is already nice: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katrin_FridriksI can understand saying an artist is overpriced, for example Charming Baker (basicly no cv and very very high prices), but about Fridriks? She is affordable and imo correctly priced. Forgot to mention, she's also represented by Vicky David NY: www.vickydavid.com/

I see a lot of work I think is overpriced for where the artists are at the moment. But I'm no gallerist, so what do I know. I also agree with Tobaum, as she has shown all over the world and with some quite prestigious galleries too.

Maybe tobaum/remi. I guess only time will tell. Prices for her work are up there though with some of the uk's most well established abstract artists. Buy an Albert Irvin or a fridriks? Guess it depends what you prefer. Hell you could even get a small terry frost original for the same price as a fridriks.

Sorry didn't mean to encourage anyone to buy anything. Just saying that for the price of a fridriks there is a lot of other stuff out there. I do really like her work though, and that's what really matters. You don't need to own to enjoy

I'm going to to compare her stuff to Pollock's (which may or may not be fair, but hear me out). What I like about both their work is that you can see the energy and force behind the work, as if the act of creating it is the art itself. I do quite like her crayons pieces, probably too dear for my budget, but I like the energy, the "splash," the artist's actual hand doing the work, whatever you want to call it. My thinking as well. I would love to pick one up, but the pricing has me put off. Looking forward to what you acquire though!!!

I'm scared to ask a price when there not quoted. Judging by auction results I'll pass. Some look fantastic, others just do nothing for me.
