I'm sorry but I don't see neither humour nor talent in this work. Tastes differ quite rightly but I have seen some right s**te on here passing itself off as art and actually find drans stuff kinda refreshing... says me with a dolk puppy love in my collection i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee370/obasho/dolk_puppylove.jpg[/IMG]
I agree with you that some Dran's works are refreshing, humorous and he has indeed some drawing skills and talent... but this one lack of everything! why do you like and what do you see in this latest print? I really can't get it.

Good for you Basho. It's always a difficult question to answer why you like a piece of art.

im really really happy with my one. Any framing ideas? framed to the edge but with a spacer so the image is away from the glass in a all white box frame. think the colours really make it pop. Did you receive a COA with the print? I didn't just a postcard ad receipt. Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I hope it doesn't cause a problem In the future! I thnk the white frame will be best IMO. Mines going in for framing this week. My 6 year old loves it but thinks she can do a better job! Cheers

I actually really like the use of colour on this, in that it is similar to the Toulouse released prints Tank Girl and Audio, but unlike them the image is just too abstract for me. I think it will make a nice splash of colour in the room for those who have bought it though Most artists hate it when one references "colour" when describing their work...will it go with the couch, brighten up a wall... Dran's prints hit or miss, I like maybe half...Art Thief a smart idea, I Have Chalks maybe 20-30% had some twist that made them work without just being cute, Learning To Fly captured youthful innocence without being cute. This seems to lean cute.

im really really happy with my one. I quite liked the Dran originals that were on show at Marks and stencils. I also liked Free Speach. But wasn't interested in these due to not liking the small image on POWs site. Having seen this picture, I think its Drans best print with POW by a mile. I still wouldn't have space for it though. Well done to all that bought because they like it.

I think Dran is very talented and most of his work has been off the charts. I had a bad interaction with the guy and don't really like the person, but respect the artist. Learning to Fly (Colour) and Exhibit are just phenomenal. The wife really likes the love me print or whatever it's called. This piece however, is pretty awful. He could have used platinum for the dinosaur, the image is just bad. He'll bounce back, he's just too good.

I've struggled to get his last two cos I desperately wanted them and was really disappointed. Today I wake up (having not had internet for a month or so) to find a print was released yesterday and it is still available. Delighted because I love his work and have a few pieces. Have to say though, the price is crazy and the image is not that good if we're honest. Not sure where the "message" is in this image that I usually find in his work. To buy or not to buy. 10 minutes to make up my mind.

It's been about 5-6 months ago now. I emailed him asking if one of his works would be turned into a print and said a few nice things as he was one of my favorite artists. Shot him a few photos of primates I had taken in the wild/rehab centers as I am a primatologist and he works a lot with primates. He offered a nice gesture and then about a week or so later he asked for my number and called me. I guess one of his friends monitors the forum and told him that I said what the gesture was and was telling people. He called me stupid for posting this on the forum (which was not done) and sending him photos and questioned why I did that (I send everyone images that I have taken in the wild as most people won't get the opportunity to go and get the shots and it is my passion). I think it was a translation issue as what happened was that I posted for people to contact me if they had a Dran or Nick Walker for sale. Whereas he and his buddy read it to mean that I contacted Dran etc..Problem is that my french sucks and his english kind of sucks so the phone conversation and email conversation was a little frustrating. Wish him the best, but I wasn't expecting to be yelled at over the phone and called stupid. We left it on the terms we left it on and I think he is a great artist who has produced great works but now I have to separate the person from the artist as I like one but not the other.

Ok I've figured the painting out!
CHICKEN SAURUS - genetically modified chickens to re-introduce dinosaurs. Scientists found strong links between chickens and dinosaurs - so a dino hatching from a chicken egg is close to becoming a reality.
the piece is a commentary on how freaky genetic engineering can be.
And not exactly a happy thing for kids.
No matter how colourful they paint the picture to you.
something like that?

Itindale - interesting story. On another note... I'm sure other forum members (me for one) would be interested to see some of your pics if you'd be happy to post in the 'other business' forum area.

Blek's english is very funny/poor too ! MBW is just the master at accentuating is french accent, kind of a joke by itself ;-) There is one french artist whose english is very respectable though... C215... happens to be my favourite as well ;-)
