If you are near The Outsiders I would recommend the short film showing downstairs of Invader out for a night on the town. Just brilliant. Didn't get a waffle thought... out of waffle mix.
I passed on buying the waffle maker as no one could give me a straight answer of who I should phone if it develops a fault while making breakfast one morning? At least if I buy one from Argos I can get it swapped or refunded straight away! Now if he makes Breville sandwich toaster I could be swayed...

There 2 are up for grabs on eBay now - it'll be interesting to how these flip. I failed to comprehend the £300 price tag at source, so god only knows who's gonna be willing to pay more for one...
Be even more interested to see if the waffles stand the test of time!!

i think it wsa probably a pretty good indication that these may not sell for great on the secondary market when they didn't sell out at the show.

This really is a piece of crap. It doesn't even sit nicely in the perspex box. Anyone who shelled out 300 quid for this needs their head examining (imo of course!)

Only interest this creates in my eyes is if the waffle actually would taste any good...

I think that the Invader prints are just "decorative". At least this one has got some meaning to it. A Space Invader belongs in vacuum.....
What about a Invader steak in formaldehyde for the next release?

i agree its a low but only because it's being sold at £300, if it was released as a bit of fun on the night of the opening for a quarter of the price where alot more people could take something home then all good. I agree, £300 is an unbelievable price. A cheap waffle release would've been far better and maybe not have left this bad taste in peoples mouths (forgive the pun) However i thought the show was ace. The movie downstairs was great and i thought upstairs was a nice mixture of bits. I could've done without the disco ball though, it takes up a whole room and didn't do a lot for me...

Only interest this creates in my eyes is if the waffle actually would taste any good... i had one. a fresh one. just cooked. definitely worth £1. Which was £1 more than it cost. Where the other £299 (less, i guess, £50 for perspex) came from, I have no idea. Ask yourself seriously. 2 questions. 1) Is this a piece of art that I can justify to my children that I spent a chunk of their inheritance on because it was totally unmissable 2) Is this just a piss take. Great concept, but an office in-joke on the whole £300 thing. answers on a self addressed postcard

1) Is this a piece of art that I can justify to my children that I spent a chunk of their inheritance on because it was totally unmissable 2) Is this just a piss take. Great concept, but an office in-joke on the whole £300 thing. 1. I've never spent any of my children's inheritance on a piece of art and I've bought a lot of art. Anyone who's dipping into their savings to buy this probably shouldn't be buying art in the first place. The edition sold out, quickly so the price probably isn't an issue for the people who did buy it. 2. I don't think it's as much of an in-joke as it tied to the theme of the show he did and it's not a stretch how the artist envisions the tiles of the waffle like the work he does on the street. I swear most of the hate for these and the new prints is because they aren't deemed 'flippable' by most of the people complaining. I like Invader, I own quite a few pieces from him and I'd rather own this then the signed maps or signed sticker sheets which he's released in the past which I thought were significantly over priced. I think it's hard to understand gallery pricing sometimes but they and the artist need to get paid. Is it over priced? Probably. But it's not in any way worthy of the hate it's getting. Some people should head over to that MBW thread to see something that is worthy of hate for just being poor in execution and concept.

I think selling the waffles was a genius idea, and the show took his art in new directions. Considering Invader charges about £150 for his signature (e.g. signed map over standard) I don't think the nicely framed box is completely unreasonable, I was just slightly disappointed to find out they weren't treated to last.
One thing is for sure, when an artist can get away with selling something perishable, you know he's onto something!

My sister just sent me a link for these and i've ordered a couple... Only $25 and free shipping. Comes in a lovely laser ingraved wooden box: Sadly, only ship to the USofA. I got round it by having them sent to my cousin in Ft. Lauderdale More details here: www.chocolateinvader.com/I actually prefer the shape of these, almost the same shape as Invaders signature ;D SCHWEET! Literally

wasn't the idea behind Turks that he did a number of works that were just signatures on a brick / a piece of paper etc, therefore was it the signature that made it a piece of art or was it just a signed brick - so quite a clever idea. Invaders waffles are a bit of festive fun at £1 a pop but a seriously overpriced gimmick dressed up as art at £300 a pop. imo.

On another note, what does it cost to make a woodcut print? Less than a waffle! You are paying for the artist's hand.
