I know the show has been touched upon in the latest Faile print release thread..but it def warrants a thread of its own.. --------------------------------------------------------------------- FAILE: Fragments of FAILE 4 November – 3 December 2011 Lazarides Gallery presents FAILEʼs all-new exhibition, Fragments of FAILE, the widely popular US artistsʼ first UK solo show in three years. Whilst the show, running from 4 November until 3 December, will still please FAILEʼs many fans it strikes out in a sophisticated new direction. Over the course of the past decade, FAILE developed an artistic practice inflected with remixes of mass culture, and built on careful juxtapositions of seeming dualities. Fragments of FAILE allows us to see them working at one frontier of their practice, stripping their painting down to its essentials and engaging a century of the more expressive terrain of abstract portraiture. This suite of new works provides an intimate counterpart to FAILE’s recent large-scale explorations of religious motifs while drawing out less obvious threads in their practice, from subtle gradations of color and pattern to a conscious removal of clear identities in order to explore archetypical structures beneath. Assembled from the artists’ own archive, Fragments of FAILE represents not a radical departure, but a rare opportunity to see their iconic practice anew.

definitely looking forward to this. I like the description and it's always good to see an artist stretch their legs a bit out of their comfort zone. Failes body of work is already pretty vast and varied so I'm excited to see what they have come up with next

Sounds like a load of old tosh that to me.
Looking forward to the show tho, just wish the blurb wasnt so flowery.
TBH most of it makes absolutely no sense to me.

i'm sure at the time of the Post Mo Bills show there was talk of this one having affordable releases too, I'm hoping its true and there's some of those book cover style pieces - but i'm not holding my breath...
although if its a more stripped down style then maybe thats kind of an excuse for some slightly lower price points?

Me neither, dont think the emails been sent out yet as the person in charge of pretentious twoddle had a fit after dribbling the blurb out Sand posted above. We're just waiting for him to come safely out of his op and then i expect an email, possibly tuesday of next week, possible beforehand, depending on how long it takes for him to compose an email whilst using a thesaurus to make every single word as difficult to understand as possible.
I wonder what the flowery term for thesaurus is? abstract wordification document?

Hang on, the more you read between the lines... and especially the last part... sounds like just more/simple reworkings of same old Faile images!!

Don't think you'll see much at Greek Street though, the show is at Rathbone Place.

Still, a faile & invader show in london in the same month-ish, can't possibly grumble.

I've been told as well that the direction taken by Faile for this Show is gonna be so different ... intriguing ;-)

i actually met faile in new york last week while they were putting up a huge new paste up on a billboard in the east village (over an old jr). just by chance they happened to be there while i was walking past. anyway, the billboard had no new surprises in terms of the look - found some images here - imagestoliveby.wordpress.com/looks good - was only half done when i was there. not sure if this will reflect what's in the new show - the guys didn't say anything to suggest that it was or wasn't!
