Props for denying 'big money offers from advertising companies', but doesn't putting large format prints of artists' works behind glass and releasing prints not just make them adverts in themselves?

hmmm, i am unsure whether this is good or not, i liked the idea this space was a painting spot only, it now becomes just another advertising space, rather than a great public [painting spot!?

I would have it so the whole wall gets painted every few months, and then maybe have big screens in those holes so the artwork can be changed everyday! Or every few hours even.
If its just like posters people are gonna start seeing it as just another advert.

Personally I think that would look more like advertising with screens. People already paint it, so I cant see the issue with hanging a canvas or photograph.... its still actual art and they never once mentioned posters from what I saw.

Hi everyone, thanks for taking an interest in the project. We thought we'd just clarify a couple of things that some people weren't sure about...the aim of the project first and foremost is to promote artists, and to open up the space to a whole host of different art forms. "Bridging the gap between gallery and street"...that's exactly what we're aiming for. We want to keep a constant flow of work going, and there will still be plenty of wall space for the street art that has populated the space for the last few years. All in all, we want to make sure that it's a platform for artists from as many different disciplines as possible to gain exposure, and possibly make a little dosh while they're at it. As you probably know, VU is a not-for-profit organisation, and we'd rather preserve the space for talented artists than lose it to some advertising giants.
Thanks again for your thoughts and keep spreading the word!

I can see plenty(possibly the minority these days) of artists saying this goes totally against why they started painting on the streets, might go as far to say the screens could be targeted and dogged
As for bridging the gap, digital cameras/camera phones and the internet have been doing that for years

I think it's a good idea. A gallery in the street. I don't see why street artists will be piss off, it's a project concerning this wall; not every wall in the city. It is nice to see something different. Specially nicer than billboards.
Delivery for what.... a brick.... tell us more...?
All depends on the donation you made. Mine grants me a limited edition A3 B.Eine's "Vandalism" print + my name etched into a brick in The Wall + 4 postcards ;-)
Did anybody here donate to this "Kickstarter Wall" project ? I did but haven't heard back from them and they're not replying to my mail(s)... Thank you

I hope this works for those of you who invested in the project... I really feel for you all as I was miffed that I missed out on making a donation in time.
Here is the reply I've got : "Sorry no one got back to you earlier. We're a small team and it can be hard to keep on top of everything. Dan & Auro are currently trying to sort out the Kickstarter pledges so you should hear from them within the next few weeks. All the best, Amelie"
Walked past today and there appeared to be on "The Wall" a Microsoft advertising campaign. Maybe it was going to change into a witty street art stunt, but it appeared to be a proper MS advert. If it is how does that match up with the non-commercial Wall?

Good point. I've received my "Vandals" print though ;-)
