RE:DEFINE is a unique exhibition and auction of original works by a selection of the world's foremost artists, photographers and sculptors.
Marking 30 years since the discovery of AIDS, this dynamic exhibition will bring together 30 iconic and specially commissioned artworks by established and emerging talent including Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Gérard Rancinan, Katrin Fridriks and Shepard Fairey.
The exhibition will culminate in an exclusive reception and auction of all the featured works. 100% of the proceeds will contribute to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation for its continuing work to empower young people and their grassroots efforts to prevent HIV in local communities around the world.
Public Exhibition: 16-24 September
Event and Auction: 24 September, 7pm until late
Hosted by The Goss-Michael Foundation 1405 Turtle Creek Boulevard, Dallas TX 75207
Curated by The Future Tense They will announce 5 new artists every Monday at 12noon EST. The thinking behind RE:DEFINE For RE:DEFINE all contributing artists were asked to consider ways to incorporate the concept either of defining or redefining in their work.
This could relate to themselves, to another individual/subject, or simply as an esoteric idea.
The thematic was developed as a conceptual extension of the amazing work done by the Staying Alive Foundation grantees, who are self-made enterprises making a real difference - both defining and redefining their own lives, their communities and the perceptions of the HIV/AIDS virus around the world. However, naturally we asked each artist to interpret this theme in their own way.
The charity 100% of funds raised through sales of the 30 pieces of work will be donated to the Staying Alive Foundation, a remarkable grassroots HIV and AIDS charity with young people at its heart. www.mtvredefine.com/
