Charming Baker London Show, by sfield on Jul 7, 2011 22:41:45 GMT 1, Great show, his work always makes me smile. All sold pre-opening with most in the £60k - £70k bracket if I remember rightly. The Jealous crew were handing out 'goody' bags inc. a signed poster, which was a nice touch. Went for a couple of prints - the quality is outstanding, as always. Will pop back when the gallery is less busy to take another look. Highly recommend.

Charming Baker London Show, by Zippy on Jul 7, 2011 23:15:08 GMT 1, Amazing show. Huge canvas's of intricate detail. I did not take any pics and it would have been too busy to get decent shots. Seperate print room run by Jealous Gallery. The owner - lovely guy - spent time with me showing me the prints and the 2 special pieces but they were too pricey for me. They also had a portfolio of panda boy prints, each one an original but at 3.9k far too pricey. Screenprinted with no hand finishing.
The canvas's were truly stunning. I do recommend that anyone thinking of going, should get up from behind the keyboard and get out and see it.
All pieces sold for 60-80k.

Charming Baker London Show, by hlarmy on Jul 8, 2011 0:52:58 GMT 1, I popped in this evening, drank some champagne, picked up a signed book and poster, bought some very nice prints, and finally took some photos:
www.flickr.com/photos/31300689@N04/sets/72157627017566217/detail/
As Zippy rightly said, well worth popping in - great show and if you're sitting on the fence about CB the chances are you won't after seeing this in person (perhaps!)... prices ranged from 58k to 75k, which I thought was crazy but perhaps not in light of the show selling out prior to hanging!

Charming Baker London Show, by sal on Jul 8, 2011 1:45:35 GMT 1, seeing all this makes me think that that Japan charity "Comic Relief Panda Boy" print, sold on eBay for £4,900 (close to $8,000), was not a coincidence...

I was told that 'some of the biggest names in art' had bought pieces from the show, certainly the likes of Hirst had bought again...
There were 1,000 signed posters which they were printing on the night, some of which I'm sure are still available. The catalogues are very good as well so to those local, I would suggest heading down first thing and picking these up whilst they are still available....

Charming Baker London Show, by AoT Framing on Jul 8, 2011 10:06:46 GMT 1, One of the best shows I've seen in years! Do not miss this one. He's certainly upped his game, by far the most accomplished work to date! The £3900 Horse was incredible in the flesh with great framing and still more affordable than a CYW. Whilst hanging around in the shop area I saw 5 being sold. Looking forward to getting my f**ker bird and shot wabbit print. Noticed Micallef there checking out the show too..

Charming Baker London Show, by Billy Sport on Jul 8, 2011 15:17:15 GMT 1, fantastic show, and well organised. met Mr Baker, who seemed really nice, and there was some great canvases. Love the Bunny print as well. the horse print looked amazing.
Am I right in thinking the show could gross £4m+?

Charming Baker London Show, by harryh74 on Jul 8, 2011 23:15:32 GMT 1, I popped in tonight on my way home. Stunning show, if you can then have a look. A few of the prints are now sold out, but some fuckers left. The remaining prints I'm told will hit the website soonish. Lots of signed show print freebies, postcards and catalogues left. I saw a proof of the dog print to be screened and it looks top quality, I just dont like dogs. I was impressed by the rabbit prints, the one on show had no border, just nice thick print up to a ripped edge, Lovely.

Charming Baker London Show, by Gentle Mental on Jul 9, 2011 1:20:23 GMT 1, interesting thing... so the high end guys are snapping these 60k pieces like bargains of the century while the lower end buyers are still not clearing the 75punds(!!!!) and 250 pounds prints on jealous site.... hmmm
if a street artist commands such prices for their originals, their 75 pounds prints be gone in a heartbeat.
why is that?

What do you mean, they're not clearing the 75gbp prints? Not sure I understand this point considering they haven't gone on sale yet, and are likely to be unsigned and unnumbered! 75gbp sounds about right, and even still, I'm sure it'll be busy this afternoon!
I think you need to bare in mind that it's only been 48 hours that people have known that CB has sold out another show at such high prices; I think you'll find that give it a few weeks all CB prints will be sold out, and then there will be a 'price adjustment' in his prints - I could be wrong but I would agree that an artist (not just street artists!) that is selling originals for more than 60k to some huge names in the art world doesn't normally have signed prints available for 250gpb...!
I find it more interesting considering where he goes from here... if it's a case that a few high end collectors are buying all his work, this doesn't necessarily mean there will be any firm longevity over CB selling work in the future. Is Charming Baker becoming one of the most exciting contemporary artists today or is he just a fad?!
