Just heard through the grapevine - friend-of-friend etc that Laurence had a breakdown and is just trying to sort himself out now. Could be a load of bull so make of that what you will I suppose...... No excuse for screwing people over? I wouldn't doubt it, could happen to anyone. Some people go over the top shouting and balling about their orders not arriving the week after they've bought them, one thing we've got to remember is that most of the time we're dealing with artists and piss heads, things take time and MOST importantly it'll get to you a whole lot faster if you ask nicely and don't act like a p*ick. Shows just how little you know really, I know this guys disappeared after orders and many complaints were not made until the order was 2/3 months late and communication had broken down. Sorry to hear the guy is having problems, surely the best thing to do is shut up shop for 6 months... rather than killing what business he has left

AN AMUTI 23 COMMUNICATION – an intervention of sorts Not really sure where to start with this. I do want to defend myself here in a way, but also don’t want to make excuses for myself or belittle the justified anxiety and anger that people are feeling. I think the best thing for me to do is put everyone in the picture with some clarity about what has been the problem and then explain how the mess is being sorted out. Basically I am recovering from a period I can only explain as some sort of breakdown or deep depression. 2010 was a terrible year for me. In hind sight I should never have moved from Woburn Walk to West London. It was a huge mistake. The massive raise in overhead was not nearly matched by an increase in business. The result was that it all started going backwards fast and I started spiralling. It all nearly went under but I managed, at a huge price, to convince the landlord to allow me to break the lease. So whist trying to clear and shop and restore it and was forced through need to firesale. That’s when it really started to go wrong. The duplicate orders started piling up, things where being moved into storage, so we getting lost, damaged or accidently packed away. The packing etc was backing up and I had to be out my Christmas. The result was that I got totally lost and really really behind and muddled. To add to it all, in the move the computer that had the orders on it gout bust so I then know I would have to wait for people would contact me or I could go through all the paper trail. Bailiffs were coming to the door and I was sinking. That’s when it all went really bad. I just couldn’t face it. I know all I had to do was let people know what was going on, but I could hardly face getting up and washing in the morning, let alone communicate in any useful form. Through fear and panic I just got a in cycle of depression that I couldn’t get out of. By the time I did things had gotten really bad. Because of the large amounts of disputes on paypal my account was restricted and hugely in a negative balance. This meant that I couldn’t even refund people any longer and didn’t have enough money to buy the replacement. And so the cycle got even worse and I buried my head deeper. I only tell you all this so you have an idea of where I was and not to excuse my actions and lack of communication. I completely hold my hands up to a lot of what people of accused me off. I have been a terrible communicator and people have had to wait stupid amounts of times for their orders. There are a few things, however, that I will not own. I am not racist, I do not list items I cannot get (like most dealers I will sometimes put an item on to sell for a commission or something I know another dealer has that they will let me sell) and I still hold out IO have never been dishonest. There are people on this forum who have had a problem, with me before and I am sure they will tell you I have alreays made it up to them and more. I always resolve everything. Some people will me pissed off that I hadto allow paypal to give them there refund. This was out of need. I couldn’t refund with a negative balance, but because of your agreement with paypal they have to refund you and collect from me. It was slow way of doing it, but the only way I had of making sure that your guys got your money. I would rather owe paypal than you. The long and short of this is that it was all a big mess but I am through the worst of it. I am sure you have all been contacted about replacements and refunds – if not then please do contact me – and most people will now have their items. I am nearly at the bottom of it. As I said I am not making excuses , it is inexcusable, but I was lost, and will work with everyone ot make it up to them if I can. A member of this forum that I recently refunded asked: “where did it go wrongs Laurence. You where one of the good guys” Well this is where it went wrong and as I am sure other people with an experience of my will confirm, I am one of the good guys, I will make this up to every single person, and am back in a present frame of mind to do so. If you stil don’t have a resolution then please contact me info@amuti23.com, is back working. And I hope that I do get a chance to make it up to everyone.
Thanks for your time.

Laurence Thanks for coming on the forum and making the post, I'm sure it must have been hard to do, but I think probably also takes a bit of weight off your shoulders, and should help you move forwards. Lets keep the thread positive and constructive, and let all the people involved work together to resolve the outstanding orders.

I've been holding off adding to this thread in the vain hope that my order (from last November) would either be fulfilled or i'd get a refund. At the moment it's still outstanding and Laurence is avoiding all communication...

Hi Everyone,
Only just joined this site as I too have been waiting on a print from Amuti23. I haven't been waiting as long as others, the print was bought at the end of January (2011) and I'm still waiting. The first email I received was notice saying the print had been posted but nothing arrived, I contacted Laurence only to be told there was a mix up with another customer and that another print would be sent in the next post. That never arrived and all went silent until a few days ago when I received the offer of a refund. No refund has come through yet. I was talking to a friend the other day who had issues with Amuti last year, and had to wait several months before receiving anything. I'll give it a few days and try contact via email again and see what happens.
Paul.

Hi Laurence,
Just read your thread below. It was me you were emailing the other night (07/03/2011).
Just to let everyone know, I have decided to trust in Laurence and wait for the print I have ordered to become available.
I really want this particular print!
From Laurence's detailed response on this thread a few days ago and from the emails I received on the 7/3/11, I have decided to go with my instincts and have a little faith in Laurence. We all fall on tough times at some point or another and we all need a little help and understanding and patience, I think this is one of those times.
Paul

Oh and I also though, out of fairness, I should add that tinternetdon is not me. I am a-twentythree. Tinternetdon, who does buy tons of me, has enough problems with rep already without being attached to the madness I have caused her.

I haven't read the recent posts on this, just doing the last 100 posts thing, so may have missed something, but responding to your comment Joe Is that wrong? Believe it or not quite an important part of running a business is about making profit?
