There is a ton of awesome & huge stuff planned in conjunction with California and Britain for 2011…in regards to this specific show, Bryson Strauss (of LA Art Machine) was the one who brought it together in conjunction with Britweek 2011 in LA. Below is more info on Britweek in general: britweek.org/2011/about.html?expandable=0I’ll be in Los Angeles tomorrow and ask them some more specifics (to provide more details and relay any new updates), but if there are any other questions for MEAR, now is a good time to ask too, as I will happily pass them along…

Bound to be good, D*Face in my opinion has needed to do a show of this size for a while now.

I agree he has need a show this size, I hope he pulls one out of the bag for us. will be disappointed not to be able to go as in the states but we can't have all the shows here.
I am a big fan of D*Face but was not to keen on the super heros series, do you think he will continue with these or will we see a new chapter.

Yeah, big Dface fan here too, but really tired of superheros. Actually of his latest work in general. Only one I liked (I know not everyone does) was his punk queens. Hope for a radical new direction.

'No More Heroes' From what the title suggests, this was the last superhero print. Hopefully D*Face will be creating some fresh material for this exhibit.

Or he took the title from the Stranglers tune Never though of that! Possibility. In good time we'll see if he releases another superhero print. I for one would like to see more of his 'Punk' styled stuff.

I agree with you, would be nice to see a new body of work. The super heroes were/are kinda hit and miss

Here are some updates and additional info on the D-Face/MEAR ONE show:
To answer your previous question further in terms of how it came about: there is a whole group of people working diligently on this to make it happen. Bryson Strauss is pretty much the one who can go further into depth and brought everything together, but (as linked to previously) it is part of a much larger scope of things with LA & UK connections being sought through a variety of mediums, events, endeavors and projects, this being one of the major ones between Los Angeles and Great Britain in regards to art/culture.
Bryson is busy on a show right now but any questions written here (now or at any time) can be passed along for sure & I bet he will probably just come on and answer direct when there is time.
My opinion further on why those artists were asked to participate:
D-Face is pretty much synonymous with graffiti/street art and more specifically UK graffiti in terms of having an international following and presence but also being so locally heralded that when you think of UK graffiti artists (and even just overall artists in general in the popular public opinion in the UK), I think D-face is on a short list of some major names and good company.
MEAR ONE is also pretty much synonymous with graffiti in general (especially LA in a similar fashion as D-face is to the UK). He has been around in terms of graffiti since the late 80’s and is one of longest, most consistent & innovative artists (in my opinion) who have come into the game…the thing is he just never left and never will. I am obviously very biased in regards to his work, but I truly think this show will be a fantastic opportunity for MEAR to help showcase his deeper meanings & really communicate to the world many of the complexities in his work.
I think MEAR & D-Face together is going to bring about something amazing & special, especially after hearing about their first meeting (which just occurred yesterday). D-face will be out here in extremely good company and the local hospitality we all look forward to showing him is tremendous!
Also, MEAR really looks forward with sharing his work with the masses of D-face fans that already seem to be enthusiastically looking forward to this show (especially in the UK and Europe).
I think it is going to be a really amazing show for both of them & I personally can't wait either…

Also, on the meeting yesterday: D-Face just came out here (and is in LA right now) and they (him & MEAR) finally had a chance to sit down and meet each other for the first time. MEAR let me know the first initial meeting went absolutely fantastic and they both were basically extremely excited about the show... I was very glad to hear how positive the meeting went, as you never know how different personalities will interact in any collaborative enterprise, ESPECIALLY art. The artistic respect was already there, but after meeting him, he really and genuinely liked D-face as a person too. He was also really glad to get a better understanding of who he would be working with (in a deeper sense than the mythology than often surrounds artists in general, especially graffiti artists). I am not sure how long D-face will be in town this time, as supposedly it is just for some quick first meetings, to get MEAR & D-face together & everything in terms of ideas & planning started and basically just get the crazy show ahead in full force. If he is around for a few days, I will try to get some photos of anything interesting (they feel comfortable sharing) and/or next time he is out...there will be PLENTY of photos taken and cameras shoved in their faces (well at least MEAR's, as I don't know D-face on that level where I'm not sure if that will piss him off or not when painting) I personally look forward to meeting him though soon, especially after all of the kind & positive things MEAR had to say!
