Great shout.
Amazing painting and the one that has probably contributed the most to how my life has shaped up.
Back in '88 when the Stone Roses released Elephant Stone, the backwards track on the flip of the 12" was called Full Fathom Five. I heard they'd named it after this painting, so I did a bit of research (not just a case of 'googleing it' back then and it blew me away. Turned me on to abstract expressionism and a whole bunch of new artists.
Had the chance to see it in the flesh a few years back at MoMA and it still looks incredible.

Oh yeh i was going to post a topic about this, i was at school on google and a painting showed up, i though it was a Jackson Pollock, so i looked it up on wikepedia and it is his b-day.

Really cool story about a new find not noticed before in a Jackson Pollock painting.

Supposedly he painted his name in big letters into the painting.

At first I was a bit dubious, till I saw this little tool.

Jackson Pollock exhibition at Tate Liverpool starts tomorrow until mid October 2015. Tate has managed to get seven of his paintings, works on paper and four sculptures.

I shall be making a visit next month, for people who live in the uk - this is must see show.
