One word, imho "Stunning"
Absolutely love all three pieces with "departure of the witches" being the stand out for me. I went for a black crying shame as this was the colourway that jumped out at me in the first viewing of the mail. Close thing between it and the gold, but I'm good with my choice ;D

des77, yep. when both the technical execution, technique and final result are typical and the idea is empty, it aint great werk. some peeps payin hard for traces, which don't have much of an idea behind em. shame. i want to like this 'street art' world, but most of it is desperately unimaginative and empty. unfortunately. Well OK I think we understand, you either don't like Pennys work, are jealous of his skills, don't agree with his technique, or for some other random or personal reason, but a lot of people do like it and the numbers of them is increasing very quickly. When it comes down to it for the folk who do like it, all that matters to them is they like and admire the finished images and in general couldn't give a damn about how it is produced, or whether they are copied or not and to be honest if any of them are, I certainly don't think it is true of all of them. If Penny does use some computer wizardry to help produce the image and you want to dismiss his work, do you want to do the same with Warhol, Banksy and many more who have used borrowed images and photo graphs in their work? If we start to look at and criticize all artists on the way they produce their art, using this or doing that, we would have issues with everyone of them, including yourself, that is unless they all returned to wearing animal skins and daubing on cave walls with charcoal and mud Art is not about how it is produced, but the finished image and what it means to the individual who is viewing it. I have tried hard not to bite on this one, as I think this is more likely trolling than a genuine considered opinion.

Although I do think the process IS important as well, and I think that 9 hand cut (extremely detailed!) stencils are hardly "typical." This is an homage, and as such needs to retain a certain element of the original. It's a shame that some people need to focus on such a small element of a greater whole. Awesome work in my opinion--I only wish my time zone was closer, was sold out by the time I woke up!

Would definitely consider a trade for "departure of the witches." Let me see what I have to part with.

Wish Penny would use his/her own images, its so plastic and photo copy like. Have you seen one in the flesh or is the comment on plastic / photocopy like from seeing a photo on the web? Is your wish directed to this release or are you saying every piece he has done is someone elses image? If the latter thats not my understanding, but happy to be proved otherwise. I've no issue if you don't like his work, but it would be more interesting to critique with how they could be improved, if there are elements that you do like etc...

Hardly original though is it, rasterizing someone else's image on photoshop, cutting it out and spraying the layers really tiny. Photo realistic stencils have always bored me, from Boxi, to Logan Hicks, even Whatsons older work, but at least those guys took a lot of their own photos.

Looking at Penny's Facebook there is a possibility of a few freebies going out with some of these!

Just got mine from mr postie. They all look great! The little George Washington penny is pretty cool too but I don't know what I'm going to do with it! The Angelica Stars is by far my favourite. I ended up getting a black Crying Shamr (I let Penny decide which colour). It looks brilliant!! For some reason I'm not loving the big piece (can't recall it's name). I still like it but it's not as striking as I thought it would be. I'm going to frame it up and see if my opinion changes. Anyone else got theirs?

babydave i understand what you are saying I had mine delivered this morning and the "Departure of the Witches" for me was the standout release but it just looks very dark on the notes. The work on all the releases is outstanding but for "Departure of the Witches" the use of the dollar bills just seems to be lost. Oh and before anyone asks no they are not for sale I am with babydave on this a good frame job might actually help it.

I still love Departure of the witches but up close it seems like detail is lost. When viewed from a distance it is very impressive. I'd love to see this with loads more detail, but im sure this will be near impossible due t the medium used. Its still an amazing accomplishment though.
Once framed up im hoping all my worries will disappear. I look forward to seeing yours framed up Kel!
