Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Dubman on May 24, 2020 22:37:31 GMT 1, As an owner I’m obviously massively biased, but out of the 250 I’d be interested to know how many are even left in circulation. I’ve heard a few stories of them being used for dart practice and worse in uni halls. I was always under the impression this and LN fell only behind GWTRB & LIITA in terms of unsigned value? Even as an owner it’s not my favourite of his work but maybe being his first official print (I think that’s the case?) and also it’s general rarity have kept its value high? I didn’t see the condition of the copy recently sold on Forum auctions but I know the one before at either Philips or Sotheby’s was dog sh*t! The condition report was good (if its to be believed) minor crescent shaped crease on the top right only visible under lights. Was also framed. I bid on Auction but left it when it started to spike in hindsight i should have stood firm.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Viking Surfer on May 25, 2020 7:00:59 GMT 1, Good luck with the search Even the ones in poor condition go for around £30k however given the history of this print it’s not expensive. Same price as an unsigned Pulp Fiction and I know what I would rather have. I just bought one from someone I gifted it to 18 years ago.
Stings a bit, that.
Oohf. Nice of them to look after it for 18 years though.
Did you get a good deal on the buy back?

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Viking Surfer on May 25, 2020 7:02:46 GMT 1, You think RC is more desirable than PF? Tough call for me that one, I would probably go with rude copper as it’s an early days release 👌🏻 Agreed, technically it was the first proper release. Much more desirable than PF IMO.
Although personally never understood the massive PF prices.

I'm also biased, managed to pick up a hand finished one for a steal a few years ago. Closest I'll ever get to an OG it seems.
Dubman is that HF RC yours?

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Jonny Wednesday on May 25, 2020 8:40:45 GMT 1, Do anyone have a sprayed one in their collection? I'd only every be interested in selling my RC if I could upgrade to a sprayed version. I saw my first one in the flesh at the Moko exhibition in Amsterdam. Made me want it even more. Looked great in the flesh! The splash of colour definitely added to the print IMO.
Same as Deelish posted, I've heard of some shocking stories regarding the print in the early days.....I'm sure there are some ex students wishing they'd been a bit more careful with the print. Hindsight's a wonderful thing!

Over the past few years I've done exactly the same with five other Banksy prints (two Laugh Now's, two Girl With Balloon's, and another Rude Copper) I'd originally gifted to friends.
Are you accepting applications for new friends? Where do I sign up?

Quite the gift giver, aren't you? Looking for any new mates?

What are you gifting these days is the question...

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by eyectopus on May 25, 2020 18:11:41 GMT 1, It's pertinent to remember that these prints were £35 and £50 at the time.
It's nice that they held onto them the whole time and that you worked out a good deal for both sides.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by sfnyc on Jun 5, 2020 2:45:48 GMT 1, Interesting situation you found yourself in buying these gifts back! Did they ask to share 50% of proceeds the day you sell?
If I only had 1 Banksy it would be hard for me to sell it, especially at only 50% when it keeps climbing.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by seamusdorey on Jun 28, 2020 22:11:29 GMT 1, I tip my hat to you Sir. An exemplary example of how to do it, a clear and concise post, one of the best I've seen; and I've been knocking around here for a lot longer than my current profile may suggest.
Hope you find a great trade Alex.

Thanks for the positive words. Loved that set. Was lucky enough to have seen it live!

Yeah to be honest it will be hard to let go but if the right offer comes along I’d consider it. It’s almost become part of the family now. (They are also for sale at the right price)

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Deleted on Jul 2, 2020 9:45:48 GMT 1, So I've had a load of really interesting offers put to me ranging in values from £20k to £40k.
Despite a couple of lower offers everyone has been a pleasure to talk to so it's somewhat restored my faith in this forum!
I'm going to take some time over the weekend to evaluate all my options.
In the unlikely event that you have a lower value signed print (Circa £25K-£30k) and a lower value unsigned print (Circa £10K-£15K) that you can imagine trading for my RC then I'd love to hear from you before the weekend.
Thanks to everyone who's reached out and left positive comments.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by KaL976 on Jul 31, 2020 20:07:18 GMT 1, I can honestly say that the copper is definitely not Mr B!(Like most of his earlier work the figure of the copper isn't a selected model, just a found image that fit the idea).Shame it doesn't make for a more interesting story... I might be able to make it a bit more interesting... Apologies for the bump but I found the the postcard that inspired Mr B to make rude copper going through some stuff earlier today.
The photographer is Cath Tate & unfortunately it's not dated but I've owned it since 1986. It was stuck to a kitchen cupboard door at the flat on City Rd & I wasn't there when Mr. B came round but it was mentioned he'd seen it and asked about it. I like how he condensed all the words and sentiment into one gesture.
