Nice shot of their license plate number there -- if the owner of the building really wanted to go after them for "vandalism", seems like a good place to start.
They own the building, were gonna paint it out until they found out how much it was potentially worth.
ok banksy may realise that there is a commercial side to what he does, but i dont think he'd go as far as getting into bed with some corporate just to do a staged billboard ad. i mean come on, lets be serious here...
I don't think that proves anything! The company probably had two printed and changed them out overnight with the Banksy one.
I work for Calvin Klein, Inc. We did a similiar company sanctioned billboard takeover a couple years ago in conjunction with the New Museum around the time that "the splasher" was gaining notoriety in New York. We created/printed 3 versions of one our large billboard images posted them over the course of three days.
So believe me, if a company can afford to buy ad space like that in LA, they printed more than one billboard wrap, and Banksy was involved from the get go.
Welcome to the world of art and big business. Don't be so naive!
“I don't think art is propaganda; it should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. It celebrates humanity instead of manipulating it.” — Keith Haring

Looks like someone did call it into the police while the Charlie Brown piece was being removed. It sounds like the guys taking it down claimed they owned the building:
So retarded how everyone gets so worked up over a crap piece because of its value, its a jealousy thing isn't it?
I wonder if Banksy got arrested when he was in the middle of spray painting the girl with the sledge hammer. The piece does not look completed and he hasn't done anything since. I guess let's see what happens over the next 10 days.

someone has bought themselves a very poor copy.... and someone has just made themselves $8k through clever deception..
as for the dodgy paste up girl, and a poss arrest, i think ur reading too much into an average piece of art that just so happened to go up the same day as banksy's...

why do you think so!?.. did you contact the seller and see the photos?!
the real question is: why do you think that's the real "charlie brun" that was removed?
I should probably start an auction with the photo of the guys removing the banksy billboard with a description like "big billboard poster decorated with spray paint" and let's see how many billions I will make...
well, you could do that.. you can also put a photo of a Porsche and sell shopping trolley, but Im guessing any buyer will wanna see a photo evidence of an actual piece they're buying.. so I was just wondering if you saw the photo of an actual thing they were selling...
I know it's possible this a f**k up, but Im thinking it's also possible that whoever cut it off, just wanted to get it off their hands quickly and make few bucks on it...
I dont have a point here or trying to prove anything, Im just curious..

ITS A WHEATE PASTE, its not a stencil and also not a Banksy. Really not sure how many times that needs to be posted before people take notice. Can you honestly not see the wet glue marks on the wall ?

I contacted the seller asking for pics and info right after the link of the auction was posted here... I'm still waiting for a reply.
oh well... better ruined after 3 days than stolen...
I agree, being dogged or buffed used to be the natural end of a piece (and IMO it should still be, although I would much rather it stayed for ever, but this is just not going to happen in this greedy, selfish and beurocratic world), although this looks just like mindless vandalism and a pity after such a short time. But rather this than putting money into the pockets of those who just don't appreciate it for what it is and don't deserve anything from it.
