My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by corblimeylimey on Oct 19, 2007 13:14:39 GMT 1, Cheer guys, nice to hear the kind words. I'm fairly happy with these but I'm sure I can do much better, this is only my second attempt. I was on the beach for less than 2 hours the light was going and the tide was coming in, so I had to leave or I would have met the same fate as the diver.

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by BK83 on Oct 19, 2007 18:06:31 GMT 1, Hey CBL,
This is great stuff! Re minds of the Ben Thomas stuff that was on Wooster the other day.
www.cityshrinker.com/
They posted a follow up to his work the following day on how to create his miniature environments:
forums.livingwithstyle.com/showthread.php?t=342065
So I got to making a few myself. I will post pics later, but here is one I did of the Hollywood Hills sign.
original version:
Photoshopped miniature version:
It's really easy to do. and good fun to do with vacation pics and stuff. Or in this case, you could sort of incorporate this technique with your new found love of miniature people....

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by corblimeylimey on Oct 19, 2007 19:20:31 GMT 1, Jaypaav, When I went to the Exeter art degree show in the summer a photographer had based all their work on this effect. I was sent that link by johnas a few days ago and have tried the effect, you have to choose your pic carefully, for example I don't think it works on this...
as the car further down the road is in focus.

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by cityman on Oct 19, 2007 19:29:01 GMT 1, i do a range of portraits, not attempting to shrink down anything, but blurring adds depth of field and adds a sense of mystery. easy to do using film, but digital you have to hand touch
here's a pic of a mate with heaven just behind him.

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by corblimeylimey on Oct 21, 2007 19:23:38 GMT 1, My latest pic, taken this afternoon, I'd like to improve on this by finding some magic mushrooms and placing a shocked / stoned looking hippy / young student looking figure or I'll need to go looking for some more interesting brightly coloured mushrooms/funghi.
In this picture I think the photographer is just amazed to come across what looks like a giant tit! ;D

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by slowmo on Oct 22, 2007 16:50:33 GMT 1, Only just found this thread. Good stuff. My favourite is the Man about to make his way out to sea, quite literally! Love the idea that that wave took him out, he's out there now, doing what he was made to do, exploring the sea! Bet he spent many frustrating years sitting in a toy shop begging to get to where he is now.

My Slinkachu Style Photo's, by reados on Oct 22, 2007 23:17:11 GMT 1, may be i have missed something but it thought the blurring to make real life scenes appear as models was done by using a plate camera with a tiltable film plane, im i right in assuming this effect can be reached in photoshop?
like the work of Olivo Barbieris which is done using tilt shift
more images here www.37signals.com/svn/archives2/olivo_barbieris_aerial_photographs.php

edit: for those that don't know this is a photo of Auschwitz II-Birkenau where over 1 million people were killed.
