speaking to the point of white frames, i am a new convert, they are awesome and allow the print to really pop. also, i must add that in my opinion, you'd be crazy to cover up the edition # and signature, not to mention the killer black rat presss blindstamp and the beautiful deckled edge of the paper... so obviously, my suggestion is to float it. peace. The only problem for me on this is the white border is quite large and the blind stamp is right in the corner. I like blind stamps but wouldn't want that much border on show.

That is a good point, I am a fan of the paper edges showing and the blind embossing but the amount of white surrounding the print is a bit too much, agree with you there! I also don't like unsymettrical prints within a frame, the fools gold had more blank gold at top and bottom so had to get the frame made wider than the print to make it look symettrical! it looks damn huge but I like it!

It is quite 'normal' to have a bigger border at the bottom with equal borders at top and sides. Something to do with how it looks weird if borders are equal all round. That's what they tell me anyway.
I am not convinced by the 'keep the signature and edition number on display'. I have it on display on some but surely the 'image' is the important thing. If the print had a title then I could understand keeping that on display. What do people have such strong feeling about the signature being displayed? I have some signed and some unsigned - bar myself, the only people that see them would not realise that some are 'missing a signature'.
About to try my first 'float mounted piece' after agreeing with most of you that it usually looks a bit odd ...

Here it is. Mrframeman special. Really pleased with it. Dont think it will be to everyone's taste but it looks cool up close. I will take some better pictures with a good camera as soon as I buy a new one.

I think it enhances it - and it is probably one of the best frame jobs I have ever seen. Congratulations!

Cheers guys. I'd love to take the credit for the idea but I left it to Gary/Dale to do what they thought would look cool. It's kind of not what I was expecting but beats anything I was hands down.

Very, very good frame - love the idea. I'd like to see one with a more random paint splash too but this is fun.

I was never overly inspired by the print itself, but that framing is out of this world. It almost changes my mind about the print. In fact, I think if I could have one framed like that, I'd actually want it on the wall. That frame's a bloody work of art and a masterpiece at that!!!

Really nice! wasn't so sure when you originally said about geting that done as it could have detracted and cheapened the look of the print, but I too think that framing has made the print more desirable! I've yet to get mine framed but very tempted with the same idea if he'll do it again? love it, a well paid off gamble, great idea!

Cheers everyone else. I will try and get some better photos up to show the paint detail asap.
It wasn't crazy expensive but putting the paint on takes a bit of work I think so drop him a PM or e-mail and he'll give you a quote(I think it depends on where you are based too).
He's a great guy to deal with and really knows his stuff.

^^ absolutely incredible frame job. i love how the paint drip colors seem to be a perfect match to those on the plane. can't wait to see more upclose shots. very nicely done!!! i agree, the framing appears to make the print come to life even more.
