You've got to understand that FedEx have paid Customs on your behalf to get the package to you quicker. I can't see them refunding anything until Customs advise them to. Don't waste time writing to FedEx, write to customs. All they need to know is that the package contained a book. You will get your money back if you want it.

Just received a letter from the mail! Telling me I have to pay 2 euros VAT and 14 euros for the Fedex Fee loooooooool

You shouldn't be paying anything, FedEx let me off in the end, and agreed it was tax exempt.

Unfortunately for me, in France, books are taxable at a reduce rate of 5.5%. But the thing is that they are taxing on the full amount. Cost of the book + shipping. If any item has a value that is less than 45 euros, it's exempted. I think that here it was 50 euros.
They can wait before they'll get your money lol
I already had ad similar problem with books from Japan! They charged me full VAT instead of the reduced rate. I'm still waiting for the customs to reimburse me lol. It's been 6 months that I sent my reclamation....
