Thanks for posting those Butterfly, saved me a job! Will add a few more next week.
Jef loves what he does and the end result is amazing. The Sitting boy prints were excellent, would look great next to Banksy's Girl With Balloon! Each one hand finished with Jef's arrow sprayed in different places! Bargain at £80!!
Thank you so much guys ! Thank you for the cool pics Butterfly ! Thanks Pud, thanks everybody ! I have already replied on the other thread (maybe both thread can be joined, is this possible, Silky ?)... It was really great to meet you all and chat with you. About what Silverfox said : there are a lot of new stencils at the show, especially made for the occasion, but also some less recent stuff, of course. On Butterfly's pics above, maybe you can mainly see the latter. Among the brand new stencils : the 4 100x100cm "blurting the truth", the "Picadilly Eros", the "Ying Yang", "the thumb up self portrait (don't think twice it's alright)", the Nureyev... The Dondi White portrait is also brand new, and the Rotten/Vicious are very recent. This is my first solo show in the UK, so I guess that what you saw before you saw on the web... As for the street stencils that you may have seen in London, you can't have seen them in a gallery in the UK before, except at the Open Studio group show or at Opus Underground Xmas groupshow... I tried to mix new stuff nobody had ever seen before with some less recent stuff... But all pieces in the main room are dated 2008 ! (the less recent stuff being in the bar, some dated 2007 and a few 2006, but some 2008 too !)

The "WAKE UP" print
The print is 40 x 40 cm, edition of 50, numbered on the left and signed/dated 08 on the right, on white thick cardpaper, straight edges. It was hand printed by Olivier Marescaux, at TTDMRT studios, Troyes (France)
"This brand new print is a tremendously important image for me, as it was the first stencil I ever cut, way back in 1982, from a photobooth self portrait. It's the very first one I spray painted on the walls of Tours (France) more than 25 years ago ! The Mickey ears were added later. I've already cut this stencil many times since that time and I can't imagine never using it again ! It has become my "avatar" and as much a "trademark" as my red arrow, and for a lot of people who have known my street stencils since the beginnings, it is definitely symbolic of my work. I think I like this selfportrait for its energy, its "punk" and wild aspects, the way it can be seen as a shout as well as a laughter... The Mickey ears were added a while ago and they obviously state that I belong to the "Disney generation" even though I reject "Dysney Kultur" and all it implies ! The "Wake up" wording underlines this and means : come on, free yourself from that consumer society and think for yourself, don't be a manipulated Mickey ! The fact the print isn't on high quality paper but on cardpaper (like a vinyl album cover) adds to its "cheap punk" side, and the price is also quite cheap : 50 pounds... I had wanted to release this image as a print for quite a long time and here it is now, in a very limited edition... Enjoy !" (Jef Aérosol, feb.2008)
Looks awsome Jef. Love the sitting kid (boy) print aswell as the wake up one. My favorite pieces are those two, 'ying, yang' (wow) and 'love is in the air' But all pieces are great. Sadly I dont have time to get there.
