If we say they're crap does that mean you won't buy them?! The Fall of Icarus is great. What price are they asking today?

guy denning at Red Propeller, by Harveyn on Jul 10, 2007 13:31:13 GMT 1, Just interested in opinions guys. Sorry if the questioned was deemed inappropriate.
As I have said before its hard to judge art without being face to face with it and being based in Ireland its not always possible to get to see some of the work on the mainland.
Guess I'll review in solitude!!

I'm sorry why is that a little harsh? He's asking what other people think of an artist before he decides to buy. I'm just saying can't he make up your own mind if it's good or bad? I put Guy Denning down as one of the top three artists to make it this year, a couple of months ago, so obviously I rate him. I also gave you the link to the Tunnadine which hopefully is helping a few people save a few bob rather than go thru RP.

Also, I am not giving an opinion on Harveyn, if that's what it sounds like. I couldn't give two shits about what people do on this forum
BTW Romanywg, thanks for menioning Guy a while back, thats how I got into him.

Sorry guys - I am new to the forum and I really didn't realize this type of question was frowned upon. Didn't want to cause an argument. Its not whether the art is good or bad, both pieces are fantastic and I am genuinely stuck in my choice but to be honest Romanywg you are quite right I am a big boy and can I will make my own decisions.
Thanks for the original introduction to the artist through you thread.
If no one minds I will post a picture of my decision when I get it.
Peace!! ;D ;D

No it's all bollocks to make people think he's the next big thing. By the way, Banksy said Romanywg is one to watch in the future! Remember you read it here first.

I don't think anyone thinks he's going to be the next big thing, the next small thing maybe. Micallef recommended him to RP, but if you look on wicipedia, you'll see that GD and Micallef have been connected for a while, so its no surprise he recommended him, you'd do that for a mate, especially one whose art is good. There definitely seems to be a large improvement in his work in the last few years. If you flick back through GD's works by year, he spent almost a whole year doing nudes including men with boners, which I didn't bother enquiring about. So maybe Micallef has seen the improvement and passed his details on. I don't think Mic is on record saying he's the next big thing, especially when he's challenging for that mantle himself.
And by the way, Banksy said crackawacka was the next big thing, he actually said 'romanywg who?' if i remember rightly.

Silky - I spoke to them yesterday and told them we're all on here talking about Guy. They have been monitoring wc anyway, and probably us as well.
Now they'll know we like him and bump the prices up more. Thanks Silky

guy denning at Red Propeller, by romanywg on Jul 18, 2007 13:48:30 GMT 1, I received an email from Guy the other day as I was talking to him about Tunnadine hiking the prices up and he replied with 'I have insisted that wherever the originals go pricewise (and after 20 years I can't really be accused of greed if I can finally make a living at it can I?!!) that the limited prints stay in the low hundreds pricewise.' So he may have had something to do with the screams going up on the bay.

well if he was involved and it wasnt just a "gallery grab" then fair enough imho. Better he has it put on the bay then flippers. But ya, see,s a lot talk raised his profile here at least. i wouldnt have heard of him or had the chance to buy his work otherwise.
