I think that a few (3 maybe?) were available at the NY book launch, so this guy was ideally located to pick one up. It retailed at $500.

I was the lucky forum member to pick this up - although I now need to sell - so...... IF YOU WANT IT - PLEASE PM ME...... BOOK NOW IN HANDI've had a few great hookups from members of this board, so I want to return the favor. As I've posted on this thread, I was lucky and had a friend purchase me a book from the NYC shop. (Its being shipped to me today!!!!) I was also lucky enough to be on the list to receive one from Gestalten. I already have the signed edition. 2 books ARE enough for me. So, I paid a total of $330. ($250 +$23 for tax. $57 for shipping to me and her trouble.) ----- If anyone wants me to purchase the Gestalten edition for them, I'd ask a payment be made for $330 to my paypal account. I'll order the book and have it shipped to your address. ----- Please don't reply to this in this thread, pm please. I hope you guys think this is fair. How much - $330?

I buy a lot of books, and there is definitely no import duty or VAT. What was on the customs' declaration? You can appeal the charge - it takes a bit of effort but I have managed to extract a refund eventually in the past.

Break down of charges: £28 charge for 'Disbursementnout of the scope of EU VAT'£10 charge for 'Clearance Adminstration Charge Vatable at 0%'Just a VAT and Admin charge loking at the invoice?? In the description it doesn't list the item as a book, just 'Faile Artist Edition'. I'm going to check this against the info on the box.

If it was shipped from within EU to the UK, not sure what is going on. If it came from Faile in the US, and was not described as a book on the Customs' declaration, then a charge may have been applied in error. When my Love Sour Love came, it was properly described, and there were no charges.

I got a bill for £18.01 today - breakdown, of £8.01 V.A.T., £10.00 advancement fee. All because they failed to write 'book' in the description. What a bloody pain. Also, seems like they pluck the VAT amount out of thin air as we have all been charged differently.

The £8.01 is probably VAT at 5% (the rate for works of art). £28 will be VAT at 17.5%, which is the rate for most other goods (and sometimes prints with large runs!). Just depends on how the customs officer handling it classifies the package. There is an appeals procedure, but it requires a lot of patience.....

I'm going to appeal out of principal. I've done it a few times before. You normally get a cheque a few months down the line. I've never appealed on a Fedex delivery though, only Parcelforce.

I got a FedEx bill this morning also, for £38.05, i filled in the FedEx complaint thing online straight away. This stops the payment procedure until the case is sorted out. You must all do it.
I'm almost certain books shouldn't be taxed on import duty?
It's got to be up to Faile to sort this out with FedEx, no?
I mean they have the account with them, they put s**t loads of business there way.

Same problem - I found this on int-net.....is this the way to do it? Bloody letter writtin. www.fedex.com/gb/invoice/billingfaq.html The Duty/Tax charge is incorrect. How do I dispute these charges? If your C88/Supplementary Declaration document is incorrect please send the invoice with all supporting documents to the address below: FedEx Customer Financial Services Sutherland House Matlock Road Coventry CV1 4JQ I got a FedEx bill this morning also, for £38.05, i filled in the FedEx complaint thing online straight away.
