Matt Small, Cyclops et al Black Rat Friday, by redkentish on Sept 10, 2008 11:13:30 GMT 1, Hi Over the last few months Matt Small and some of his fellow artists have been working alongside people from vulnerable and troubled backgrounds in a series of workshops exploring how art can be used as a way of giving a creative voice to anyone and everyone. In celebration of these workshops and in order to raise some money to keep the workshops running, there is an exhibition being held this Friday 12 September at Black Rat Press in Shoreditch called Hope in Life. I'm working with Matt and the London Arts Project on this show and wanted to let you know that Matt has produced lino cut prints on 25 of his old unwanted vinyl records that will be for sale on the night. Because of the way Matt works, all the lino cut prints are unique and different from each other effectively making them original works. The 25 pieces of art come with their own individual painted sleeve and have a hand sprayed signature on the back of the vinyl. These will be for sale on the night at ยฃ350 each, significantly cheaper than any subsequent vinyl record pieces Matt will make. Hope in Life participants worked on large wooden panels which will make up part of Friday's installation. Bortusk leer, C215, Grafter, Cyclops, Advocat, RYCA, Data, Rob Sample, Zach Walsh and Matt all have work on the panels and these will be available to bid on via a silent auction (check out Matt's website for images of the boards mattysmall.com). With a musical aspect to the night by the rapper Bobby Whiskers, it promises to be a night worth checking out. Kick off is at 6.30 pm. Hope to see you there. Thanks.
