The manufacture of the awards is something I have been thinking about this last few weeks. I have been looking around at laser and waterjet metal cutting as a possibility, but the prices might be a bit steep if we have a lot of categories.
I know we have members here that work in all sorts of industries, so if this is something you might be able to help with that would be a great help.
The main aim is to manufacture the awards so they can be made easily each year with no problems, to the exact same design.

Making the Awards out of metal would be ideal, but at the moment its looking like they are well out of budget at the moment Anyone that knows, works for, or owns a company that has a Water/Laser jet metal cutter that would be willing to help please get in touch.
The other option that I'm looking into is getting them made from plastic I know it dunt sound good when you say it like that, but the people I have contacted are a bit special fingers crossed

I think you should go down the soccer am route, such as the golden espadrill!
worth thinking about anyway if the cost is too much

What about plaster or concrete ? If you use plaster in a mold you could get a decent finish for very cheap. Plastic sounds naff imo
really not nice. sorry how about something by an artist..... would make more sense. really.
Yep! would be nice but ideally it would need to be pretty plain to be fair to the artists receiving it you don't want it shouting out as being made by any artist in particular.

It doesnt need to be a signature style of the artist making them, that the whole idea of commissioning something. Surly one of the many artists or galleries that are supporting you with this can give you some contacts to get this done cheaper anyway

Isn't this the first year of an award that has no corporate financing? I think some people have some crazy expectations. Give the thing some time to develop. It likely won't be the perfect the first time out.
I think it would be amazing if the winner of each award would design the award to be presented to the following year's winner. But that likely isn't realistic at this point.
It would be nice if there are some artists out there that would volunteer some help for this not for profit endeavor.
But since I have no artistic talent, I don't intent to be a critic here. I'll just look forward to seeing the out come of the awards this year.

Its 100% not the first year, must be 2nd or 3rd now surely. I think you may be looking into peoples comments too much. From what Ive read people are trying to give constructive feedback, just throwing ideas around

Yep, I'm new here and could be way off. It just seems to me that everyone has comments on how they think things should be, yet I don't see too many people volunteering to help get it done.

Its exactly how I expected it to be really In some ways I don't want too many people getting involved coz from experience when you have committees nothing ever happens, and then it all ends in tears Never again!
Thanks again for your support

With the greatest of respect Dan I'm really not sure how this shamless cap in hand self promotion is helping your cause...?
It does seem odd that the two previous 'Street/Urban Art' award evenings have been organised with no requests for funding and yet they've managed to secure venues, entertainment and have the awards made etc.
All of this was achieved through appealing to members of this and other art forums... My suggestion would be to attempt to follow this model.
Although I'm not sure how it'll be perceived now?????

No problem Thanks!
Yep! Venues are not really a problem, its just a matter of picking who, when, where, and how big to go for. If anyone here has a waterjet cutting machine, please get in touch otherwise all I can do is go down the route of getting quotes from manufacturers (what I'm doing at this very moment).

can you not contact the people that made them in previous years ? also this forum must make some kind of profit.....

I think we have been over this before
I'm after somebody with a waterjet cutting machine if you, or you know somebody who has, who is willing to make these for free! than please get in touch The other option is to pay a company to make them, and that costs money. I don't have the funds to do that at the moment, if I did I would be paying for them myself But I don't, so I cant! if that situation changes then I will pay for them
If you don't want to help these Awards and your not interested in them, that's fine if you do want to help, that's great too!

Walshy Lets put it another way.
This forum is run by me its helps thousands for members find out about art, many of them use it to sell art to save themselves ebay fee's. Its used by loads of Artists and Galleries to sell and promote their art, making themselves money. The ebay adverts here are done to bring in a little to cover costs, and allowing me to give my time to keep it going letting members such as yourself to enjoy it to the full. The Awards is obviously not run for anyone to make any money, but some parts of it are bound to cost something in materials. So if those members who really appreciate this forums existence wanted to give a little back, then a donation to help cover these material costs, that would be great! If you don't, thats no problem
