Keep the ideas coming Something else to think about - Separate Awards for UK & International? Id say no, its not like the movies where the USA has a bigger budget so would win most things. If British artists are god enough they will win. Although I should add that awards for what should be a underground/street or urban scene (or what ever its called today) do seem a little strange.

UK Urban Artist, International Urban Artist, UK Street Artist, International Street Artist, What's the difference between an urban artist and a street artist??? Maybe I should have said "Street Art" rather than "Street Artist"? Street Art = Art on the street, such as Graffiti, Street Stencils, Paste Ups. Urban Art = Art by Urban/Street/Graffiti Artists such as Prints, Canvases and Originals.

Hmmm...I think Indoor/Outdoor or Inside/Outside would be A LOT clearer (like on Banksy's website) - a lot of people use the words street art and urban art inter-changably to mean exactly the same thing. Urban art is art in an urban environment. The urban environment is....streets. With a few notable exceptions (eg Neate), you don't really find prints canvasses and originals in an urban environment - they're all indoors in galleries and people's homes.

I'm afraid that article just proves my point. The third sentence of the article says "Sometimes Urban art is called "street art". By trying to make a distinction between Urban Art and Street Art you are always going to be fighting a losing battle and will only confuse people. Whereas if you call it Inside/Outside or Indoor/Outdoor everyone will know exactly what you are talking about. Outdoor Art: Art on the street, such as Graffiti, Street Stencils, Paste Ups. Indoor Art: Art by Urban/Street/Graffiti Artists such as Prints, Canvases and Originals

Outdoor Art: Art on the street, such as Graffiti, Street Stencils, Paste Ups. Indoor Art: Art by Urban/Street/Graffiti Artists such as Prints, Canvases and Originals I don't think a Print or Canvas, hung in a house or gallery is "Street" or "Graffiti" so that only leaves "Urban". Indoor Art in the Urban Style We will never get everyone to 100% agree on this sort or thing anyway so its not worth getting too bogged down with it all, expecting a result.

Silky - I was just quoting your own definitions! I thought you might at least agree with those... what I think we can all agree on is that prints, canvasses and originals tend to be found indoors whereas graffiti, street stencils and paste ups tend to be found outdoors - yes? Also, I believe the vast majority of people (including that wikipedia article you referenced) would agree that you cannot separate street art and urban art in the way that you are trying to do. But then again I can't remember you ever changing your mind about something no matter how much logic and sense you are confronted with so no - I'm not really expecting a result...
