Passed. Not buying anymore art for a while, and for that price, I'd rather have a new Mac Mini...

I could have purchased the print 3 times over with the countdown thing. Our works connection must be pretty good.

Nice, but don't like it enough for that price. Loads more out there for less.

so is this thing gone? I never did have a chance to add it to the basket... I made it to the cart but never had anything in it. It just simply said: "The item you just tried adding to your cart is unavailable."

If they put the full price paid on the shipping documents, it will set you back £99.75 + an admin fee. The print should qualify for the reduced rate of 5% but I'm not sure how Faile would have to describe the contents for customs to charge that immediately. You'll more than likely have to claim back the difference which is a bit of a nightmare.

The budget will have happened before these prints hit the UK so expect your tax bill to be higher plus it wouldn't be a surprise if they did away with the 5% rate on original art that you can usually get away with on faile prints. hiya confused on this. FAILE dont put the real value on their import invoices. and when was original art 5%. please.

ross: my head hurts after reading this para:
2.4 How is the new effective rate of 5% calculated? The effective reduced rate of 5% is calculated in the same way as the previous 2.5% rate by applying the standard rate of VAT (currently 17.5%) to a reduced value.
The normal value for import VAT purposes is:
the value for duty, plus, if not already included all taxes, duties, and other charges levied either outside or, by reason of importation, within the United Kingdom (except VAT) all costs by way of commission, packing, transport and insurance up to the place of importation. The reduced valuation figure is reached by calculating the value for VAT as above and multiplying the total by 28.58%. Applying the 17.5% standard rate of VAT to this value gives an effective rate of 5%.
wtf?

;D
I don't know how to explain that text stopki but basically, if you're charged VAT @ 17.5% on a piece like this Faile, you write to Customs & Excise describing the piece and that you believe VAT should have been charged at the reduced rate of 5%. They will eventually send you a cheque for the 12.5% difference.
