New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 22, 2008 14:28:41 GMT 1, I prefer Part2 myself... or System for the realsim type stuff... it can go too far one way... to do that photo realism artwork, you need to inject some personal style... I agree case has that, but it still isn't quite there for me... System and Part are about 10 years ahead of him... imho
Those 2 guys are both fucking magic too. but I'm not sure how you can make a statement like "they are about 10 years ahead of him." I especially like Part2ism's work, but Case's work is the absolute business and personally I think that conceptually he's easily as good. Maybe it all just boils down to opinions.

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Poppy Sunshine on Nov 22, 2008 15:55:56 GMT 1, If Part 2 and System are as good as Case I need to get a look at some of their stuff. Any ideas where I could find some please? It's strange and interesting how people view things and goes to prove that it's all in the eye of the beholder. This is basically a new born baby with a bit of blood on it but from some of the squeamish comments you'd think it was a scene from a paedophiles snuff movie. Eack to their own and I know it would prove a controversial talking point whoevers house it was in but personally I think it is absolute genius and if someone will buy some things off me very soon it will be hanging round at mine if you fancy a look.

Everyone has different opinions... true... it's also very much about the promo and marketing behind certain artists. it all depends on how they're profiled.
but to answer your question - System - www.400ml.com Part2 - www.myspace.com/part2ism
well worth a look imo. and look out for System first major solo in 10 years at Nancy Victor Gallery in February! It's going to be amazing!
and a Part2ism and Remi/Rough show at Pure Evil Gallery about the same time rumour has it...

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by remirough on Nov 22, 2008 16:43:09 GMT 1, thanks Wiz... my paintings are very different to Sys' or Part's but i appreciate your feedback. Seriously tho, wait til you see what System has cooked up for his Feb show... I guarantee a lot of heads will be turned.
Both he and Part are pioneers of this culture tho, both painting even longer than me. Part is on some next level dimensions too tho. His wing at Mutate Britain is one of the best things I've seen in such a long while.

The world of graffiti is a fickle soul... basically inmy weird and slightly askew mind... System was doing things like this... in the late Eighties and early Nineties... To my knowledge (and correct me if I'm wrong anyone), case and Maclaim Crew started writing or painting... in the Nineties... by which point part and System were quite possibly 2 of the most respected graffiti artists in the UK. Jim Prigoff, who co-wrote Spraycan Art even travelled to the UK, just to met them and take pictures of their work... Case and Maclaim crew (in my opinion), are new schoolers.... nothing against them at all, I love their stuff... it's simply that Part and System were doing what they do 15 years before they'd even started painting...

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 22, 2008 17:20:03 GMT 1, I respect that System have been around a lot longer Remi, but the work is just not as impressive imo. I would even say that I much prefer Replete and his TPN Crew's work to System. Case and Part2ism are masters of their trade, but again, I prefer Case, because I feel his work is just more interesting conceptually. I actually think he has the slight edge when it comes to execution too. As stated above though, I am def' a fan of Part2ism's work.

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by hick on Nov 22, 2008 18:08:09 GMT 1, finally an intersesting discussion on here ! no flipping n**a talk !
remi while i respect those two artists, I have to say that the work looks slightly dated imo, although its fansatic the difference i see is between graf and street art, meaning those shots are from pioneering grafitti writers whereas case i consider a street artist, and like his subject matter as it is just really dark but , it's horses for courses innit? It's great that you are now part on .info and wall kandy as you bring a very well schooled and level head into discussions and of course with you being a front liner you have seen it all come and go, who would have though 20 years ago guys would be selling home versions of their street stuff? i remember watching guys like temper back in brum , you lot definately primed this new school street art lot....

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by graeme501 on Nov 24, 2008 1:32:06 GMT 1, would have to agree with others on the forum, much prefer case's work to part2 and system's, imo their work looks dated and if its photo realism - for me it has to be spot on, i get this with case, but not with these two artists, it either looks a bit cartoony, or something is a bit off with the face

I do like the way Case both repulses and captivates me though

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by pezlow on Nov 24, 2008 14:29:34 GMT 1, I know we all like different things but I am really struggling to see what the appeal of case is. Sure he may be able to paint photorealistically but so can literally hundreds of artists out there. Go to any art fair and you will be bombarded with photo realistic art.
As for the subject matter it is just grim. No way I would have that on my wall even if you paid me.

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Gallery My Arse on Nov 24, 2008 14:42:57 GMT 1, I agree. It's average at best. Don't believe the hype from the "galleries" and from the people who have recently bought one of the works. Its all a 3 month bubble with much of this stuff. Buy, sell, profit and then move on to the next artist to make a quick buck on. I'm an illustrator. Give me ยฃ1000.00 and I'll run you up something similar and I'll donate ยฃ950.00 of it to Shelter.

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Poppy Sunshine on Nov 24, 2008 14:49:41 GMT 1, And any one of us could pretty much replicate any print that Banksy has done so I'm not so sure that's a relevant point to be honest. At the risk of repeating my earlier post, this is a new born baby with a bit of blood on it. I've just witnessed a much worse scene at the butchers counter in Sainsburys.

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by curiousgeorge on Nov 24, 2008 15:07:19 GMT 1, The C-Section image caught me eye last week, so much so i ran it past my other half,She promptly asked if "I was fcuking mental"
I like it on a personal level, it was only 5 short years ago my newborn son was handed to me looking exactly like that, even down to the colours. For me it takes me right back to those special first minutes.
Would have to hang it in my private room no doubt!

New Case @ CAMPBARBOSSA, by Poppy Sunshine on Nov 24, 2008 15:18:11 GMT 1, Spot on CG. Maybe someone having their head hacked off by extremists might be considered grim and gruesome but apart from a bit of blood this is pretty tame when you look at what it is. As often happens on these controversial ones people confuse looking at the actual talent with whether or not they simply like the image. You just cannot deny the talent of the man who's created this. So loads of people can do photorealistic art. My kids paint with stencils. That doesn't make them brilliant or mean that Banksy is now demoted to useless.

I'd have to disagree with the description ugly, it's quite a realistic depiction of a new born and yes they're not all fluffy and pink like on telly they're a funny colour, all wrinkly, covered in blood and all sorts and for some reason they all have a passing resemblance with Churchill, but not ugly.
I'm going to assume you don't have kids, believe me if/when you do have any you won't find them looking like this ugly in any way at all.
It's a very moving piece of art showing this most vulnerable moment in human existence being cradled by one who went through the same a few years earlier (to me it looks like an older sibling not a parent) but however much I can admire it I still wouldn't hang it at home.

On a slightly different but connected subject, I just can't get my head around those people who take the afterbirth home and make a cake out of it. Now that really is hard to stomach.

I wouldn't want a painting like this either, we've numerous photos of our kids looking a bit like this and none of them are on the wall they're more for our own personal memories. It's just having been present at this moment a couple of times now I can't see anything but beauty in it's depiction however gory and gruesome it looks.
