Grafter Splash - New Triptych available tomorrow, by chav on Feb 17, 2009 10:11:54 GMT 1, Classic example Adam Neate
I would say shit example Adam Neate.... Adam didn't get where he is today through hype dear fool, he got where he is because he's a seriously dedicated and talented young man who is so obsessed with creating stuff he probably paints while he eats sleeps and shits, he does it because he's mad for it, and that devotion shines through in everything he does...
(your probably thinking of Nick Walker dude....)

Grafter Splash - New Triptych available tomorrow, by crazyarsemother on Feb 17, 2009 11:55:27 GMT 1, This whole debate raises that age old notion that an artist can not be a 'true' artist if he shows any desire to earn the sort of money that any would else would now a days would consider their right.
This whole fourm praises artists and bigs them up but many feel the need to deny them the rewards that our society allows others, who are successful.
I know this is an extreme take, and questions of integrity have been raised over the release (which I feel is where a gallery should guide and earn their 50%) but terms like 'sold out' and 'in it for the cash' are so archaic. This website was started by people who collected Banksys and in the early days was full of threads by people, getting excited about their print's value. Its okay for everyone else to get rich on the success of an artist but not the artist. They must be motivated by creative inspiration alone. I wonder how many have given up then when the council tax bill comes.
I blame Van Gogh (who apparently got a fair income at the time from his brother AND only cut off his ear lobe). Keep doing what your doing Grafter, its a very hard route to take and a brave one, especially with the pressure of a family. Good on you Grafter and good luck with your next pieces of work.
Now who is going to buy my Banksys?

Grafter Splash - New Triptych available tomorrow, by Deleted on Feb 17, 2009 13:00:13 GMT 1, what most forget is the average mental age of this forum tends to hover around 13 - basically anyone who has now left home with no help from their mum and dad needs to pay the bills and put food on the table - if u can get money for doing something you love then WELL DONE you're one of the lucky few. Everryone can moan all they like, but I know for a fact Grafter aint lording it, he's an average joe trying to make ends meet, niether is he your average artist stuck up his own ass - so fairplay to the bloke.

This is an Art Forum Not a charity to put food on Bob Cratchets table. Ask yourself a few questions, bearing in mind that 17th and 18th century artists made their living by commissions from wealthy patrons eager to have their and their families portraits painted in all their finery. The invention of the Camera closed off this market as the interest in photography grew, and artists now found themselves in the wilderness, so on and so. Are you trying to tell me that it OK for a bloke trying to make ends meet to use redundant techniques and employ photo shop to sell us images of his own family splashing about in the back garden or dressed in fur headgear FINE. Personally i like to save my money, buy the real thing and enjoy. Not some poor quality Athena ripoff that will turn rancid in time There is either ignorance involved here or downright shafting going on ? WAKE UP

Your making me feel guilty mate. As an expert on making sure this artist is at peace with everything in the world apart from the last two buttons on this waistcoat please explain the connection that involves a defense that revolves around the kitchen table when my statement was not in the knowledge that i believe this work to be little more than a snapshot that has been brought to our attention by the employment of PHOTO SHOP but that i know it to be. and that buying images of someone else's children under the banner of art at them there prices is deceptive to say the least. it is a cheap simple trick any of us could do. not art. If you were to concentrate you efforts on making comparisons with artists such as Ian Francis Connor Harrington D'face plus others of the same caliber you'll stop wasting time putting out appeals for £2.00 a month( Iam now half expecting to see the poor chap in a Gustafff Dore etching bowl in hand.)

I only respond to this comment only to say i have absolutely no idea what your talking about Geez?? The history of art has been unsparing in its depredations, and this without returning, conferring that fame which is often the concomitant of such misfortunes . For all that it can point to an illustrious ancestry and count to its credit qualities and achievements of the first order. unfortunately PHOTOSHOPED images of your kids floating about the back garden for £400.00 smackers is not one. Why would i wish to photo shop your unenlightened comment?. Not only are your observations without merit, there as irrelevant as the food on the table argument. Dont tell me you've bought one. O dear.
My advice to you Geez is to learn to make comments that fit like a hand in a glove or the ring on a finger not just pull them out by the hair ;D This is a regurgitated piece First time round it went for £80.00 QUID Now this time 3 in line £400.00?? BITTER WHAT SAY WHAT, When, What Why How Say What Please explain. ;D JESUS

Do you know Grafter? Do you own any of his works? Have you ever arrived home after a long week to a surprise package from Grafter with a bunch of SICK freebies?
If not, dig a hole. Find a lid. Enter said hole. Close said lid and feel free to wax poetic in your babble speak to your hearts content... Banksy is a great forum, but I have a big issue with the peanut gallery that likes to degrade & tarnish, rather than encourage & discuss...
'Nuff said. Back to work ;D ;D ;D
