New DOC piece, by Danny O'Connor on Jul 25, 2009 12:13:05 GMT 1, Hi all, I haven't posted new work on here for a while so thought I'd start a thread with some new work. Here's a couple let me know what you think. I'll try and update with more paintings in the near future.

New DOC piece, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 26, 2009 2:21:50 GMT 1, I love the slightly more abstract images Danny. Although I tend to like most of your work to be honest! I think with the money some of us drop on prints, it's madness that so many lovely OGs of yours are available at Edge. Keep up the great work mate, I know there are many of us who love seeing it.

New DOC piece, by Heavyconsumer on Aug 2, 2009 1:12:34 GMT 1, Like the brush strokes!!! A bit of CHOE in it!!!
I've been thinking ther same thing. This piece does look a bit Choe-inspired. Not a bad thing as I'm a huge fan of Choe's. Quite a change from the more usual DOC style Danny! Again not a bad thing - always cool to see you guys mixing it up and feeling your way. I think any half decent artist is normally interested in trying new things. Good luck with the work mate!
New piece showed up the other day, and after paying the evil tax bill accompanying it, I'm thoroughly looking forward to getting it up. Just trying to work out where's best for it at the moment. Thanks again man (and to Mike@Edge of course - great service as usual)!

New DOC piece, by Danny O'Connor on Aug 2, 2009 15:28:18 GMT 1, Thanks jean-pascal and HC. I guess this does have a Choe feel to it, he does like his female profiles. The actual inspiration for this came from a stencil of Erykah Badu given to me by fellow artist Martin Watson. I was basically looking for something to paint in a quick impressionistic kind of style and had his piece to hand.
I do like to mix it up you're right, I've been doing a fair few characters and semi abstract portraits lately so felt like a change. You may be surprised with what I come up with next. Watch this thread 4 updates! Bet U can hardly contain yourselves Or not!!!!

Mixed Media on 36x36inch/91x91cm Canvas. "Love Is A Dangerous Game"
Playing with a more Graphic approach with bits of typography and layering of different images. Still tryna keep a painterly feel to it though. Think I might run with this kind of technique and introduce some different types of subject matter.

New DOC piece, by Heavyconsumer on Aug 4, 2009 16:48:53 GMT 1, Excellent piece Danny. The subject matter isn't my cup of tea, but the linework is great and the composition of the piece is really nice. It looks to have depth and a deceiving/distorted perspective, with the background and foreground almost interchanging as you look at it.

New DOC piece, by Danny O'Connor on Aug 4, 2009 19:53:07 GMT 1, Thanks again everyone I think I'm going to run with this layering technique for a while but would like to broaden my range of subject matter in this style. May try some urban landscapes and street scenes as well as my usual portraits and characters.

Agreed, first time I've seen this - good stuff Danny.
Really like 'Window to the Soul' as well, very captivating.
As always, looking forward to the next...
