They are both from the L.A. scene so I'm certain that they know of one another.
What's impresses me most about Saber is the range of styles that he has. In my opinion, his style is much more diverse than Mear. For example, this image bears little to no resemblance to Flag 2010, which bears little to no resemblance to his abstract paintings, which bears little to no resemblance to his spider paintings, and so on ...
As I mentioned in the other thread before it went to hell, I really like the fact that each of these prints is essentially a one off. It gives entry level collectors the chance to own something more unique than just a signed/numbered xerox-like print.
Great story to the print on Sabers blog, i love reading stuff like this:
Pepper is a true street artist in the purist sense. He’s known to some by his altar ego; “the Mayor of Skid Row”, and he’s proud to proclaim that he’s the last homeless person on the forefront of downtown LA’s gentrification. He lives on Santa Fe Ave. where years ago a large tent city used to be, the last holdout.
When I was younger and creeping around downtown, I would notice these colorful, bold, and scrappy art instillations. Pepper has a habit of decorating his immediate surroundings, wherever that might be, with multi-colored paint splats, piled on discarded toys, and other purposefully arranged found objects. You can frequently catch him running around the city with his red shopping cart full of freshly discarded trinkets.
The print “Pepper’s World”, and the mural I painted on 7th and Mateo that it inspired, is in homage to his existence. I have enormous respect for those who can survive in such extreme conditions yet still be able to express themselves creatively…….
Ummm, can I say that I'm still really looking forward to this? Does anyone know if Saber will also be selling the HPM's on his site as well? There's no mention of it, but he put photos of them up...
The more I look at the photos, the more I really like it. There's some pretty crazy details there, and the colors really make the buildings POP...
I don't think this looks like MearOne at all; I feel it's well more developed than that! I like art that is tricky, but looks easy, you know what I mean?

I thought you guys might be interested in some more of the production photos on this print! I can honestly say that Saber is one of the hardest working artists that we have had in the studio... for reals.
It's refreshing to have someone in the studio that is so dedicated to his work and the process.
There are some more photos on the Modern Multiples facebook! ;D
I've not commented on the print yet, so here goes, I think its a glossy 80's messy night scene, that does nothing for me, but I'm sure the Americans will love it.
Modern Multiples, I take my hat off to your printing skills, you are true professionals.

I think the dude with the afro is Pepper and Saber is the one seen cutting out the separations
Either way, awesome afro for sure!
The way I read the story is that Saber has been influenced by this Pepper character who has been around the streets of LA for years and decided to pay tribute to him with this print.
Got my print yesterday direct from the printer/publisher, picking it up today! The other half of the edition looks like it's up now on the artist's site:

I just checked and the prints are now available on Saber's site saberone.com/product/?id=78 . There are also a whole bunch of photos I have not seen before, including several of the hand separations, more production shots and tons of Pepper. Pepper is indeed awesome, but Saber as Bob Ross is priceless!!
Can't wait to get my Happy Little Print!

It's a police helicopter. Saber did an a really cool painting series called "Close Encounters: LAPD over Echo Park;" ghetto birds as UFOs. They seem to turn up in a lot of his cityscapes.
"This is a clip from the upcoming short documentary on Saber’s “Pepper’s World” Project. The video will be released soon. Watch for it.
Saber recently created a mural downtown and a limited edition print to honor one of downtown Los Angeles’ most original Street Artists; Pepper. This is a video preview of Pepper and the project that Saber dedicated to him… Lately there’s been alot of hype in the news and TV about street art and graffiti. Well, this is what it really comes down to. If you want to know what’s up with street art in LA, you need to know Pepper.

Enough already.
Saber has a print out and it's an homage to some Pepper dude. I'm sure those who want to purchase the print have done so by now.
I should never have posted that stupid pw protected link...it's obvious that Lahoda's 'crew' of people posting for him will use even the tiniest comment to keep the thread relevant and at the top.
