Errr I just rang my home insurance company and without being able to tell them if it was signed or unsigned they wouldnt even give me a rough estimate of price for insurance on my banksy print...
Anyone got any rough ideas for either? I do believe it's a signed and numbered piece I bought at an Art Republic underground exhibition in brighton quite a few years ago but I'm not sure (about the signature hehe and obv not at home at the moment).
What's really annoying is I only renewed my house insurance about 1month ago and I have a horrible feeling this is going to push it up. I never realised my banksy could be worth much to anyone but me.

Signed:
Well, if Bonhams has anything to go by then about £12k... To value it at £12k rather than £5/6/7k it'd go for on ebay at the moment won't cost you too much more, it'll save you revaluing it in 6 months / a year and will mean if the worst comes to the worst you'll have a bit left over from an insurance payout after you've replaced it

wtf £12k o0
Don't get me wrong, it's good and I love it but no way is it worth that... **edit** no way it should be worth that, this is art for the masses, not for the bloody rich people **edit**
Oh well, get home and double check and cry if that pushes up my insurance a lot then.

If you want I'm sure insurance of £7k is adequate for the moment, you should be able to pick up a replacement for close to that from ebay if anything happened.

thanks for that... no ebay at work and the misses is moving in shortly with her nipper who has a habbit of climbing and knocking things down. I don't mind, I just want to make sure anything I have is easily replaced if necessary. After all, that's what's insurance is for isn't it.

Well, it's numbered out of 750... It has a stamp on it saying banksy but no signature or is that it?

Nope, as well as a stamp there would be a hand scrawled signature. I assume it's also in the higher 100's? Sounds like you have an unsigned on your hands.

last unsigned golf sales sold for just over a grand, £1500 should do it.
many insurance companies will insure any single item up to £1500 at no extra cost.
keep receipts, take photos, make a note of the number etc.

Yeah, I work for a bank for my sins and staff rates means anything up to 2k is no extra to cover. No receipt for it anymore, bought at a time when I was at uni and rather disorganised hehe.

I just had another look at my print and it has no stamp on it. Now, I bought it from an 'Art Republic' underground exhibit quite a few years ago. To be honest, I cannot even remember when, probably 5/6yrs ago. Would there have been a stamp on the art work from that long ago?
I've had a chat with the misses and she thinks it might be best to sell what I have and then I can put that money towards a signed one which would definately be a preference for me as well, I mean, who wouldnt want a signed print.
And how would be the best way of going about selling a piece or two? ebay i presume? Damn late night whiskey sessions, kids are gonna put a stop to this a bit hehe
