What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by stickitup on Dec 15, 2009 14:05:01 GMT 1, everyone seems to have their own opinion about the No Ball Games print and how POW could have handled it differently. Make a stand, vote with your fingers POW may even take note, then again may just dismiss it "keep your wacky ideas firmly in your head where they belong"

What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by grafik on Dec 15, 2009 15:19:57 GMT 1, its about as fair as it gets.
In Store: they told you at 1.50pm, you needed to be there before 4am. thats over 14 hours to get there. some guy came from dublin. Thats pretty fair, if you wanted one and your in the uk you could have got there.
Online lottery: Fair as it gets. massively low chances because lots of people want one, but very fair.
They couldnt do anymore. can we stop talking about it now?

What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by robinbanks on Dec 15, 2009 15:28:23 GMT 1, Online lottery is the fairest way but I do think you should have to enter EVERY time, and I also think they could cut down on multiple entries by asking for your postcode and house name/number in the registration process.
BUT since when is life fair? At least with the queue your destiny is in your own hands.

Looks like you have too many big pictures uploaded on your account. If you upload an image of say 100k filesize, everytime that image is downloaded (which happens when someone views it on this forum for example) 100k of bandwidth is used. Your bandwidth has a limit and you have gone over it. Either upgrade your account or wait until your account recycles (probably every month) and it ill work again.
To reduce your bandwidth in future, upload images with a smaller filesize

What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by stickitup on Dec 15, 2009 16:01:11 GMT 1, not too sure how to define fair...But in this instance the fair seems to hinge along the line of everyone gets an equal chance of getting their mits on a print. I could have gone to line up in the cold if money had been my motivation and made a decent amount of money from it, and this seems to have been the motivation for a lot of people. This places the fans against the flippers and generally if everyone thinks this is not right they may not support POWs other artists? I would seriously consider not buying from them if I thought they were not treating everyone fairly - despite how much I might like a print. TBH I didn't win but am not fussed, its no big deal, I am not super skint and I have plenty of other art to hang on my walls

Nice post. And I agree with Rat above as well. Most of the moaners will find fault with any and every release system every time they don't score a print. "Fairness" is the last thing they are looking for or are able to recognize.

What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by ninja on Dec 15, 2009 16:50:49 GMT 1, online lottery where you need to purchase tickets. maximum of ยฃ20 per person. it would raise a fortune for charity and provide a method (checking cardholder details) of ensuring that there is only 20 entries per person.
or open a store in inverness next time and watch the lahndahn cants complain see how they like travelling 7 hours without knowing whether they are gonna get there in time 'cos me and 229 mates are gonna get there and start flipping.
to be fair, when people are offering job lots of a pair of prints on the bay, and pow claim to want to stop flipping, then they can't be altogether happy with how it has gone and it would seem to suggest a flaw in the process.

I agree Willy. I cant believe that so many people are still moaning about this release. 20 pages of POW this and POW that. I think they got it spot on myself.
Did it or did it not clearly state on POW website days before that the release was in store on 12th DEC?

This would be the way i would do it. I really like the idea of raising good money for charity with the purchase of the tickets. And also have multiple entries in for the print rather than just 1 e-mail. with the VHL it was a maximum of 20 tickets which i think would be enough. There will always be flippers so i don't think you can ever eradicate this but it least with the ticket purchase some of the money would go to a good cause, you can almost be sure a flipper would buy 20 or what ever the maximum would be. This way we all have a bit more of a chance, the flippers would give a bit back which has to be good, what could be fairer than that?

What could POW do to make the Banksy NBG fair, by Heavyconsumer on Dec 15, 2009 17:12:57 GMT 1, Impossible! POW do not have cardholder information, they use a 3rd party company for processing payments.
Also, there's no way to limit how many tickets people buy online. To be honest, I think this release was perfect. People wantint 1st come 1st served and people wanting lottery were ALL satisfied. Seems to me, as I say after EVERY Banksy release, POW can't win. Bottom line is that the moaners will always moan when they don't get a print. As I said abov, they are not interested in or able to recognize fairness - they just want to buy a print below market value.

I think you could limit the numbers bought online if you did it through paypal, anyway i was just posting my thoughts to the thread HC. I'm not moaning about it just giving my opinion to title of the Thread
